The application, C:\et\ET.EXE, generated an application error The error occurred on 06/30/2003 @ 20:59:32.310 The exception generated was c0000005 at address 69745CC3 (nvoglnt)
ET crashed, whats this mean from the log?
Also spotted this one below it
Faulting application et.exe, version 0.0.0.0, faulting module nvoglnt.dll, version 6.14.10.4465, fault address 0x00245cc3.
Obviously something wrong with the dll, but whats it do?
All other games run fine but this, so i dont see how it can be a problem with my drivers, even q3 runs fine and thats on the same engine.
If i run my pc underlocked (AMD) at 1.25ghz it works fine, soon as i up it to its proper 1.6ghz it does this, i’ve tried alsorts and i know it isnt over heating as i have monitored the temperature.
It is not unusual for an overclocked system to crash in one particular program, and be completely fine in others. If underclocking it solves the problem, it is almost certainly a system issue, not related to the software. If it was completely a software issue, it would happen no matter what the clock speed.
If you have other parts of your system overclocked, try setting them back to stock speeds. If you have aggresive memory timing settings in your BIOS that could also be an issue. If you are certain you don’t have thermal issues (not just on the CPU, but also on the chipset and video card) it might be a power supply issue.
If it is the video card a little tip is to cap your fps, it worked for me. I was running along with ridiculous fps like around 240 in places and this obviously was giving the old GF4 Ti4600 a bit of a toasting (esp. now the weathers hot) and not making any difference to my game at all. The extra heat on the video card caused an odd ET crash this may be the same with yourself.
Also I don’t care what anyone says about how well they know their system temp. and if it is fine or not if you have to underclock a cpu something is amiss somewhere and it has to do with heat.
My pc isnt over clocked, its an AMD Athlon XP 2000 + but the only way i can get ET to work is by underclocking it, nothing on my pc is overclocked at all.
I will try some extra cooling i guess see if it helps, like i said though q3 can play for hours (same engine) which is a little odd.
Right, but if declocking it fixes the problem, the problem is almost certainly hardware. If you have a sub-spec power supply that could be it, although I would look for thermal issues first.
Make sure you have the latest BIOS for your motherboard, and search google for people reporting having issues with your particular hardware. Make sure your chipset and video drivers are up to date as well.
You can also try running with the case off to check for cooling issues.
If you post the system specs, someone here might know of issues with that particular combination.
Ok,
I already run it with the case off as its like an oven with it on, it doesn’t usually go above 55 with it off.
KS75A pro mb sis chipset
AMD Athlon XP 2000 + (1.6ghz but ET will only run when at 1.2ghz)
512MB DDR
GF4 Ti4800 SE 64mb
Windows XP Pro sp1
I am runnng the latest bios and latest drivers for agp, ide etc etc
I have even ran the pc with a 28" floor standing fan facing point blank into it (taking it down to about 45-50 in game) so im pretty certain it isnt a cooling thing.
The only thing left to try i suppose would be a new psu.
your still running hot … you sure your heatsink is making a good contact… id be getting some articsilver on there pronto… iv got a 2500+(bartoncore) overclocked @2.1ghz running no more than 44c under full load…
I’ve just ordered;
450 Watt Dual Fan PSU
Akasa Silver Mountain 2Q CPU Cooler
AMD Athlon 2400+
And while i was on there the athlons are quite cheap i noticed, so i thought i’d up it to 2gig just to be on the safe side
Hopefully this will fix my problems, if not i will smash the lot up and buy a p4 shuttle
I already have what you ordered, and I get an error with ET too. Every time I wanna play ET I have to reinstall, it’s prety fucked up, but I can live with it, other games and shit run smoooooth tho

Doesnt sound like my problem thankfully
Just for Ha Ha’s
DL and run memtest, its free and might shed some light.
Also try Prime95, also free, run the torure test, see if you get errors on that.
Either of those shld expose hardware flaws.
neither of those will stress grfx card, so it can also help eliminate ram or cpu heat.
also try disbaling all programs that run resident in memory at start up, type “msconfig” from start/run (cept win2k) esp things like virus sw, just to see if that helps.
Also try going into BIOS and reset to fail safe default, as another idea.
