Et constantly crashes when I get into servers

Ok so I quit Wolfenstein about 2months ago. I decided I wanted to play again so I downloaded it. But when I go to play I get into the server and right before I can press “L” to go to limbo menu it freezes and stutters for about 5 seconds, then crashes. It is like this with all the modes I have tried; Jaymod, NQ, etpub, etpro. I’ve tried downloading it from different sites download.com, fileshack, fileplanet. And also tried reinstalling. But every time I do so it still crashes. It is not with my firewall because I have checked it and also disabled it and it still happens. Oh and also When ever I go to remove it in add remove programs it says it is 2.2gb. Even though it should be what around 250mb? I also tried going into the etmain folder and cleaning pk3 files out from before but still didn’t work. Any help is good TY … =)

(Also not a PB issue I’ve tried non PB servers)

Edit: It IS a punkbuster issue i can play on non pb servers fine no problems when i try to join a pb server i get into the game and it stutters for about 5-10 seconds then crashes to desktop. Need help badly Ty. =)

Have only two things you can try out:

Delete the folder pb and run PBsetup:

If this doesn’t work, run this program that ‘PunkBuster Service A’ will run:

As you was uninstalling ET, do you deleted the ET folder manually?
Wich OS do you use?

Nope, those didn;t work :(. I uninstalled ET from Add/Remove programs I didnt delete any folders. Windows XP SP2

After you uninstalled it with Add/Remove proegrams, do you deleted the installation-folder manually?
If not, make a backup of your config and etkey and delete all. Then install it again and put back etkey and config.

No I did not delete it manually. I would try your idea but how do I make a backup of the etkey and config? Thanks for the help.

Ok so just copy and paste what? What is the etkey and what is the config? Sorry I do not know much about this.

etkey is just that, a file called etkey in etmain folder, config would be your autoexec
etkey is only needed if you play on a particular xp save server

If you use some kinds of antiviruses, antispywares, etc. togather with PB it can cause such problems. Try uninstall your anti-everithing.

ok i did the copy and paste and deleted the folder now im just dloading hopefully it will work :slight_smile:

PB now works =) and server exp saved but my settings did not how do i get those to?

make an autoexec that contains the tweaks you want, it will be loaded when you start game

Ok I meant to update this a long time ago but as soon as I joined the PB server I got in for about 5 minutes and the same problem started happening again. How do I completely delete ET from my comp so there is no trace I ever had it registry files etc.

ET does not use the registry. Simply delete your Wolfie folder and that it.
