Et closing down???

Hi,

Been playing et for about 1 month, was just playing about 30 mins ago, finished the game, now trying to load it up again, and it closing down, just when it starts to load map. I have rebooted comp. Weird as i havent changed anything.

any ideas?

what does it say in the console?

which patch are you running? (2.55,2.56,2.60,2.60b?)

best is to play on 2.60b least bugs…

is there a way of reinstalling et without losing my xp?

i see there a a cd key file can i just copy this somewhere then place it back in after a new insall?

Yep in the Wolf/etmain dir, there’s a file called etkey, copy that somewhere, reinstall, then copy it back in, and you’ll still have your XP/Admin level. :slight_smile:

what about the profiles folder, should i keep that, i think there is a corrupt file somehwere hence the reinstall but i want to keep my ‘ingame XP rating’ ?

You should lose it after every campaign anyway.

maybe he plays on a xp-save server.

I think to keep your xp you just need the etkey, your profile just has info about what your ingame name is, what keys are binded to which actions etc…

but reinstall does normally fix alot of bugs, I just did reinstall install 2.60 install 2.60b, and since then I didnt have any troubles anymore, but you do have to download lots again…
