ET becoming a real warzone ! (ranking!)

(skybuck) #1

I like this idea of having different ranks !

Just like in a real war.

The best guys and the best dudes… sometimes take the lead… and maybe sometimes not !

Then they send in the expandable rookies

I like the idea of generals being able to tell rookies to go somewhere.
Yet it not really implemented now in the game ?
But that could be funny.
And vice versa ofcourse… getting the general out when he is in great danger.

There could even be a special game mode called: ‘protect the general’

or ‘get the general out’ like a resque mission

Woehoe !

Hmmm addition: Ofcourse the general should be played by someone really good who would be able to survive a long time without any help and surrounded by enemies

And the other people had to be pretty good too
But everything can be learned

And if everybody is newbie it might even be fun too ;0)

Another addition:

And if that is to hard of a game mode for some… then instead of a resque mission there is another game mode ‘escort the general’

Even more fun would be if the general could make his own mission and not tell anyone… because it’s top secret…

the general would have some points to choose from on a map to make the mission… so different routes possible… then go play it

I don’t like the idea of ranks. Basically, what I do atm is repairing useless mg 42’s to gain exp or build that axis defence gate while that gate is a very bad bad thing for axis.

Well there are 2 seperate things here:

  1. the concept.
  2. the implementation

You’re saying you don’t like the concept because of the current implementation, you say you start doing useless and/or stupid things just to get points…

I am not sure exactly what your point is… I guess your point is that it adds nothing to the game…? But that isn’t quite true… I did those things myself and found it quite interesting to be ‘out-of-the-game/battle’ and a peacefull part of the map. Somebody else was also snooping around and it was kinda fun. So as long as it’s fun I think it’s good.

But I see what you getting at… it might get boring just to do those things for points only.

I think no ranking system will be perfect… I still think ranking can and could be interesting

again, it comes down to what things are good for public servers and what are good for clan matches… it’s quite a nice feature to have when there’s 32+ of you in a server and the game is in campaign mode where you’re rewarded for spending more time in the server and being more active…

However in clan wars i think it could work eitherway, especially with some of the tactics involved where all that counts is the team result, not individual player experience points (score). It would be handy to disable rankings, or even set a default ranking level on the server where you start with top ranks - this would be ideal for clan wars.

I think the system is great, it rewards people for playing the roles they are supposed to play.

Medics now have more reason and motive to heal people and revive people in order to save their own behinds.

Engineers have more motivation to fix things that before they wouldn’t have thought twice about.

Field ops will be more likely to give ammo to others instead of hogging it all for themselves.

The system rules, and it doesn’t penalize you for suicides. Much better than the stupid old score system.

The abilities are great fun, the akimbo pistols are awesome, and overall the system encourages classes to play the roles they are supposed to play, and it also adds a sort of competitive edge.

I play engineer alot but your not gonna catch me repairing things what are not important to the teams affectiveness, iam always kept busy blowing/repairing bridges ,blowing/repairing command centres ,laying landmines ,repairing/blowing the tank, killing enemy and why is the axis gate a bad thing? jees ur either on a crap server or u just dont have a clue on what ur doing.

(skybuck) #7

What axis gate are you talking about ?

(shao) #8

there’s an axis objective on either side of the fuel dump - they can build a two stage gate to keep allies out of there… they need to be either tnt’d or detpacked to knock them down.
