ET (and fueldepot) is _very_ unbalanced.

In the beginning, the map was fun and worked out pretty well. Now ppl have figured out how to fuck up the balance on the map.
If axis has 3-4 field ops, and calling arty on the bridge all the time, it’s hell to be allies. If they kill themselves every spawn, it’s even worse. Add a couple of axis in the tunnel, and a mg42 + a medic watching the foot-bridge, good luck allies…

Ofcourse on public there will often be an opening in the tunnel sooner or later, but that won’t happend in a cw with a decent team. Nevertheless, field ops that does /kill every spawn are very annoying, it’s almost impossible to build the bridge in such a case.
My suggestion is that a player will loose xp in his “class-skill” every time he kills himself.
With medics you can do another thing, they should loose xp for doing teamdamage. Anyone tried standing behind a teammate shooting him in the back while you feed him with medpacks? Not very hard to lvl fast then…

Or just shoot a panzer down the tunnel…

Let them sit one the top of the ladder then…

All it takes to get past the start is some good teamwork. snipers can clear the mg42 guarding the footbridge by first removing the medic.

When I snipe and see a medic spotting someone else, the medic is always my priority target (bah, who needs the geneva convention  ). And a panzer or field ops can help clear problem areas long enough for the engies to get the bridge built and the main tunnels blown. And a Covert Ops with an enemy uniform can cause immense havoc if played well.

When I first started playing the map, I did feel it was unbalanced, but it was simply because people (myself included) hadn’t learnt the tactics and teamwork required to advance on it.

hehe, outsniping someone that’s good with mg42 is not exactly easy…
and if he has a medic behind him it’s even more difficult.

Yeah, it’s a peice of cake. They have the disadvantage of hving to be prone to get anywhere near decent aim. You can take cover behind logs, hills, anywhere you want really. Unless you set up position right in his fire arc, he’s a sitting duck and so’s his medic buddy. It’s all about being sneaky when you’re sniping. If you just walk out int he open and expect to snipe someone, you’re dead meat. The best sniper is the one where you don’t know where your death came from.

Smoke grenades are vastly underused. Get some smoke covering the bridge and tank with a few engineers working in unison and you have a good chance of getting it built before they can do anything against you. Likewise smoke helps mask snipers getting into position.

A small team of allies going over the barbed wire (you can get over with minimal damage without the foot bridge) can do some damage as well, particularly if you have a good covert ops along too.

A panzer to the tunnel, particularly if masked by a Smoke Grenade can also help out a lot.

Don’t naturally assume that because it’s possible to mount a good defense on Fuel Depot that it’s not also possible to counter that defense. Think outside the box! Max the envelope! Revolutionize your soul!
