Wolfenstein - Enemy Territory requires a complicated series of installation steps in order to be compatible with online game play.

“ET_260b_Win32_Full_Install.exe” is a single executable file that will automatically take you through the complete installation process.

This installer package contains all of the installer files required for the installation process. No additional file downloads are required.

In short, the " ET_260b_Win32_Full_Install.exe" program performs the following:

  1. Runs the wolfet.exe initial installer.
  2. Runs the ET_Patch_2_60.exe installer.
  3. Copies the 2.60b version (Win32) of ET.exe and ETDED.exe to the installation.
  4. Runs the Punk Buster Setup: ET_PBSetup.exe from etkey.org

The " ET_260b_Win32_Full_Install.exe" installer package contains all of the above files.

Why?

Same thing here, from herlekin: http://filebase.trackbase.net/et/full/WolfET_2_60b_custom.exe

It has etkey+et+pb as well. Also a very very clean installer. Personally prefer harlekin’s above this one as it provides a cleaner menu/ui and steps.

Anyway, good initiative

I wrote this at the request of a server administrator.

It made sense; especially if you have ever tried to walk a beginner through the process.

I’ll have to admit that am unaware of a similar installer from herlekin. I suppose that the admin that requested this was also unaware.

The ET_PBSetup.exe was a last minute add on that was also requested by the admin - and at the time I was unaware that it was even out there.

Oh well, three days of code slinging for not.

Thanks for pointing this out guys.

Yea, the least an admin could do is to make a Sticky out of Kadar’s & herlekin’s installers. There are thousands of posts all over the internet written by windows people who have no idea about the etkey mess and have problems with installing ET 2.60b patch.

On a side note, there is someone who runs a dedicated ET server on Windows? I am not even gonna put a smiley in here. It’s just wrong. Edit: here is an appropriate smiley:

And one more installer to the list. Maybe I’ll made one too someday >.>

It’s nice to have made it, but a quick search would have reveal that there’s already several installers of this kind, then the newbie, if he goes that far, will ask “What is the most up to date installer, there’s 10 Ultimate/Full packages?”.

Yes, I agree. My own foolish mistake.
