I’m wondering if anybody is able to duplicate this problem. When connecting to a server that requires a map download and the server is using the sv_wwwDownload feature (http/ftp redirect), my ET client crashes about 25 seconds after finishing the last download (when the map has already loaded and I’m in the limbo screen).
The error message is the usual “ET.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows… (etcetera)”. Dr. Watson can tell me that it’s an Exception number: c0000005 (access violation). I’m running ET 1.02 (version 2.56) on W2K Pro SP4. The crash happens when downloading any pk3 file and even when that file is not the map actually in use on the server.
Redirected downloads work perfectly fine with the unpatched ET client. Also, no crash occurs when the server has http redirection disabled.
Alternatively, are there any server admins out there that are running customs on a 1.02 server and have web redirect enabled? I’d like to test this issue against servers other than my own and see if the same crash occurs.
