Hey guys, I made a bunch of demos a while ago on Wolfenstein, and recently decided to reinstall so that I could record those demos, and maybe make a Youtube vid with them =] Problem was everytime I tried playing a demo, this error would showup. Sometimes it would even play the demo, but as soon as I tried dropping a grenade, it would crash with this message:
“ERROR: CG_RegisterPlayerClasses:failed to load character file
'characters/temperate/axis/soldier.char
’ for the axis soldier”
Looked around Google and found a lot of other people with similar problems, and the only solution I heard was “fresh install” …doesn’t exactly work for me when I’m already working on a fresh install. But the demos came from my friends and my server, which hosted Jaymod 2.1.7. I knew it was probably a problem with this, but even after I tried downloading Jaymod and setting it in my Wolfenstein directory, it still didn’t work. So what’d I do to fix this?
SOLUTION: Select to join an online game, find one with Jaymod 2.1.7. When you join, it will auto-download all the required files you need to play Jaymod. After this you should be all set to replay your old demos too =] Hope this helps someone out.
