It is better to have the turret on the light engineer then the medium and heavy for the key reason that lights are able to get into better spots to place turrets.
Engineer: Short end of the stick?
Really?! Can’t really say there are places that only Lights can get to that I (or others I play with) have been using for turrets (maybe you could blow my mind with many places but I doubt it). Maybe places that they can get to quicker but none that are exclusive to lights. Not to mention maybe I dont play (or want to play) my engineer (which is also an operative) in the same fashion you do. I prefer to use my turrets more for defense then offense (hence why I am keeping it on my med engie/sol and heavy engie/medic)… The key reason is the way I want to use my Light engie/op means I don’t need a turret for it…
Sorry this just reminds me of people saying a Light Med/Op is a useless set up yet I use mine often and get great scores and fill valuable roles for my team. May not work for you but it works for me and i am just failing to see the logic behind your view in regards to how it would be so much better to do it in another way. To each their own unless you have some rock solid proof one is better then the other.

Oh I can definitely blow your mind on some places I’ve found.
Like there are certain areas only a light can stand on and get the turret placer to turn white, without you yourself falling off the platform.

Exactly my point, you found “some places”… Are they that amazing of a location and placed all around every map or just a handful of cool spots that only give a slight tactical advantage on a couple of maps?
That requires the player to be at least level 20. I have a level 20, but what if I didn’t?
They got the short end of the stick in the DLC too. I thought UAV would work with homing beacon but unfortunately, it doesn’t. It’s just a very weak remote controlled flying grenade. I don’t wish the UAV explosion to be stronger or larger, because it would change it’s purpose.
Hardly slight advantages. Generally the guns I place down won’t fire until you focus on the objective and usually are out of your sight unless you really search for them… until you do the objective.
It is just generally better to have a light body type placing turrets, since placing mines usually require you to place them in area that the enemy generally tread, which means you really don’t have to climb over much to find a good spot to put them down.
