enemyterritory.com outdated ... for a reason?

([ls.leodavinci]) #1

A website is the main portal for PR … to show people/ the community what a game is all about. At the moment I think that community sites have much more to offer then enemyterritory.com … and when a game isnt released yet, I dont know if that situation is the best way to promote a game… I often go to the publisher/ main site for the latest info about a game or a forum (and then visit fansites).

I know everyone is working his/her ass off to make a wonderfull game … but when people take a look at your site they see the same content over and over again.

  • A newsletter signup … without any received newsletters after signup
  • Press: print, online and Pressreleases (updated till june)
  • Armies showing the same info for months … classified :banghead:
  • Videos not showing the latest GDF and STROGG tutorials

Maybe you guys arent updating it for a reason … but otherwise it might be wise to put someone “on the job” … hire a trainee :chef: ?

[… I dont think the gamedevelopers are also the website-editors … so that cant be a reason]

[PS: looking forward to this game bigtimes]

@[ls.leodavinci] I never go to official sites to get screenshots or videos. Official sites are usually crap but very good looking. The screenshots are in flash format, or very small. The trailer is in flash and in small size, and no larger size downloadable.

Most gamecompanies have relations with gaming sites, so they send high resolution screenshots to sites like gamespot/ign and so forth.

So, you are wrong. “A website is the main portal for PR”

I say hundreds of sites, not just one, is the portal for PR.

You want the official site to be the best? Then they wouldnt give any material to any of the gameing sites. And that would suck.

Explanation:
I am saying that activision can do a better job updating the bloody site ! … that is all, why have a site if you don’t update it for 3 months !!!

and yes… fansites and communitysites can do a lot of good for PR, 100% agree to that (already stated

I never said the official site has to be the best !!!

well, you’re right and wrong at the same time. activision have updated lots of info about ET:QW. but not on the official site because it really doesn’t matter much in terms of PR & marketing. Target audiences (aka “casual gamers”) frequent sites like gamespot, ign, etc, and if you take a look to the info that has been posted on those sites, you’ll see that it’s a lot of info (news screenies every month, videos, and even the dev’s blogs are on a general gaming site instead of the official site).

Official sites are more of a platform to cast special promotions and competitions to the “hardcore fans”, the guys (like us) who are more familiar with the game. So i guess you’ll have to wait untill ET:QW gets released to see the website beeing updated more often.

Ofcourse this is my perspective of how things work. i’m not an employee @ activision so i don’t really know/care :stuck_out_tongue:

I was wondering the same thing myself. Luckily I found much more drool-worthy information and media by searching around. The site is fairly well done tho… it’s a shame it’s not updated.
