Enemy Territoryâ„¢ Server Patch v1.01 Released!

(Locki) #1

We’ll pleased to announce the release of a server patch for Wolfenstein: Enemy Territoryâ„¢. This patch addresses various server stability issues. It does not change game-play or adjust any features, and it is highly recommended for anyone who is hosting Enemy Territory games on dedicated servers. If you don’t regularly host games of your own, you don’t need this patch.

You can get the patch from our Downloads Page. Versions for both Windows and Linux are available. We’d especially like to thank all the server administrators that have helped in the past few weeks with testing patches and reporting bugs.

Paul/Locki.

A few of my favorite servers run Linux and they say the new patch causes a lot of crashes and there is a new patch on the way. Is this true? It did seem to crash a lot more than normal today.

Did they make mention of sky hooks and stripey paint in the same conversation, if so find out where their kids go to school.

(Kermit) #8

not tested it yet, but with 9hrs and no crash (above post) it seems promising

(Argh) #9

Well it ran for 24 hours / 32 players while being full almost all the time then it crashed for no apparent reason.

A big move foreward SD. This makes it managable.

(Chiller) #10

Yes, kudos to SD for all the hard work.

(Spookstah) #11

Before patch: Server I (16 players) didnt crash for a week, Server II (22 players) did crash atleast twice a day

After patch: Both server still running and no crash till now (i hope it stays that way  )

(SwineHund) #12

24 hrs (approx) later & still no crash, Legendary :sunglasses: total uuptiime = 33hrs

Just saw this
SV_packet event : fixing up a translated port
may have got that wrong…but it was something similar…didn’t seem to do any harm but I havent seen it before, it scrolled down the screen for about 10 sec’s. :???: no harm though just though id let u guys at sd know. :bump:

Does anybody notice in the game a slight pause, sometimes with a CI error then all goes back to normal, I think those times are when servers used to fall over.

(Slaw) #14

Do you have now fresh info? How is your uptime now?

2all: could you please recommend OS for the dedicated server?? If you have really nice uptime. And please tell the number of players…

(Awol) #15

Well I will give my input on this.

Since I have a program to restart my server when it crashes I don’t know what type of uptime I have. I guess I can write a small program to record date and time and have it run right before the server restarts. BUT no more server crashing but not ending taking all my CPU power.

Running W2K Server 2.4 GHz with 1GB of ram.

One thing I have notice and some of my regulars as well is the increase in lag. Ping times are higher than what they use to be. One player reports he gets connection interrupts every 10 minutes for a few seconds and he says that this never happened before. I will update this later when I hear from him again as I told him to give it a few days to filter out bad connections or temp problems with my line or some internet traffic.

(SwineHund) #16

Still no crash & it’s Monday morning, Good job SD!
I do notice however that there are more connection interrupts from some players. some with the message overflow & some without.
Uptime is coming up on approx 62hrs.
Using winxp to serve.

([=O=]SMYLER) #17

Yeah I agree excellent job people. Thanks very much.

(StainR) #18

When’s clientside patch coming out, soon or never? :???:

(T2) #19

Any chances you guys link this patch to some console ui lib instead of gtk?

…: error while loading shared libraries: libgtk-1.2.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
./setup.sh: line 278: 11012 Segmentation fault “$setup” “$@” 2>>$NULL
The setup program seems to have failed on x86/glibc-2.1

I usually don’t have X11&gtk installed on my servers.
Had about three crashes of et server this week but hell I love this game, thank you guys.

(BlackDeath) #20

Thx for making our ET gameplay experience even greater SD

Thx alot guys
