Enemy Territory Pure Servers Hate Me!

I’ve been having on hell of a time connecting to pure servers. When i connect I get this message:

Couldn’t load an offical pac file; verify your installation and make sure it has been updated to the lastest version.

I am running v1.2
This happens at any pure server unless it’s an ETPro server.
The box that i’m running can play Doom3 with no problems so it’s not old hardware
I’m on a fatpipe - the firewall is not blocking me
I’m on Windows XP
I’m reinstalled a few times. I’ve reinstalled into differnet places. I have 3 installs of ET (Shurb, ETpro, and one for testing)
I’ve removed all pk3 - minus the ones needed for the game
I’ve reinstalled XP.
I’ve got really drunk and beat the thing.
I’m going nuts.

Any ideas?

If you loaded the maps pks.o3 via a web browser you may have to uninstall and d/l the map.paks.03 from th epure server you are trying to join. Why? Because the pure servers you are trying to join uses ShrubMod/ETPro prolly reconfiged their map parameters (ie what is and isnt allowed when players play in their servers). In other words your map.pks.03 would differ from the servers map paks.03.

The short of it is… ET is Serverside based, not clientside based. Certain aspects during map play is controlled by the server owners. Best try d/l the map.pks from that Pure server you are trying to play in.

Note: Also if you try to join another pure server from another pure server, the reconfiged map.pks may differ hence the …

KT your my hero. The server wasn’t giving me one of the maps I needed. I would download it off the webpage, but it wasn’t the same MD5.
