Enemy Territory Help!!!!!!

o.k. first of all im real new to linux and im still learning my problem is i have no sound what so ever and in the console i get this error-----Could not mmap /dev/dsp
after trying around different fourms i have noticed that this could be some sort of mixing problem not sure through?
if anyone could help me with this i would appreciate the help
im running fedora core 4
my p.c. is a e machies model w3050
amd sempron–3000+ running at 2.0ghz
1024mb ddr pc-3200 ram
G-force 6600 gt graphics card
my sound card is on-board—with a n-force2 chipset

well as a noob to the linux seen as well :slight_smile:

all that i can suggest is that you check the pathing that is set up.

open a console window and type “echo $PATH”
also try “echo $LD_PATH”

make sure that you have the /dev/dsp dir in it.

again i hope this is correct…

The easiest way for me was to use:

type

echo “et.x86 0 0 direct” > /proc/asound/card0/pcm0p/oss

as root

Sound Problem

You do have to do it everytime you restart the computer (restart? with linux uptime? bahaahah)

I would like to thank all that has given me feedback on this manner
i now can go into battle with sounds this game sounds sweet on ultra high

the —echo et.x86 0 0 direct >/proc/asound/card0/pcm0p/oss did the trick :clap: :clap: :clap:
