There’s quite a few cheaters out there, but there’s a huge number of people playing ET - the proportion of people who cheat is tiny. I see far more accusations of cheats, and often you can see why novice players cant fathom how some players can do so well; often for example it’s largely because they play for several hours a day on “skilled” reputation servers or for clans where they can pickup ideas from each other. Then there’s hardware - smooth FPS and quality mice & mousemats (or whatever setup suits you) can make an uncontrollable crosshair that jumps accross the screen transform to one you can control from pixel to pixel. Shocked when player’s can spin 180 degree’s and headshot you? Your mouse accelleration is making that a rather hard thing to do, they’ve probably turned it off.

Few years ago hardcore quakers were picking up specialist precision mats made for computer graphics, CAD etc workers - probably now it’s the CAD guys using gamer mats. Dump your crappy ancient ball mouse with cloth pad and try a MS or logitech optical with some comparatively pricey hard plastic gamer pad, set game sensitivity to half what you have now, for god sake turn mouse accelleration off and give yourself a week to get used to it. Everyone in consoles knows what a difference the gamepad makes to the appeal of the console, same goes for mice in PC’s.

I’m yet to catch anybody who appeared remotely good using the PB remote screenshots, and I’ve never seen anyone kicked in game for a hack violation who I’d noticed as doing well. Most people cheating do so because they suck so badly, often assuming everybody remotely decent is cheating. Decent players… well why would they bother? They’ve already devotedlots of time to getting to play well, and when the only prize on offer is personal satisfaction and ego from doing well, where’s the satisfaction from excercising “skill” that you’ve downloaded?

Read some cheat forums, practically all seem to be about 13 - I have difficulty trolling them because they dont even pick up on it :(.

Not seen any that get past both PB and ETPro, they seem a little upset with bani :’(

I’ve seen a few cheaters on PB servers. 90+% acc with the sten, against middle/top tier US clan players. While still moving like a complete noob. There is a demo of this guy by fa.Alea35 floating around somewhere. Essentially, if he saw you first, you died.

Agree with rain, the GAME INTEGRITY thing seems to be bogus much of the time. I have also seen ‘video driver hack’ caused displayed a couple times for someone whos system crashed. GG pb.

All that said, PB does a pretty good job, and the vast majority of people who cry ‘cheater’ are just getting owned by better players. I can count on one hand the people who I’ve seen in game, or seen demos of who were obviously cheating. Even if there is twice that number of non-obvious ones, that is still very few.

omg u guys who say people dont cheat are probly cheating or ur just not noticing somehow, i was recently in a clan, and left because i found out they all used the mpc hack, it made u invincible, u could see threw walls, and it had autoaim, thats why i left cause cheating if fucken gay. they sent me the hack after the first week i was in and i said fuck u and left, they took me into private teamspeak chnnl and told me all about tthe gay hacks they said they come out every tuesday so pb cant catch it, new updated ones they got off of some site called cheats.de or sumthin like that, so u gutta be high not to notice hax in et it gets worse every time u play! the game that once owned is becoming the game now owned by haxors

Sorry ArCaNeZeEm I still call BS on the claim the ET is rife with cheats. I admin over at ND80USA. We have over 20 servers, were closley involved with the beta testing of ET and Shrub/ETPro and although we have an extensive list of losers picked up by PB, we’re yet to see anything remotley like what your describing. At anytime there is an admin or regular on every server, so if cheating was as pervasive as you cliam, we’d know about it.

Lol, cheats.de is a site where mostly single player cheats and FAQs or Walk-throughs are published (which you can also find in each gaming magazine). Its very similar to the Dirty Little Helper. And I doubt that you will find anything about Enemy Territory or RtCW, since they are kinda banned in Germany (you must be 18 to buy and public advertising (this includes reports in gaming magazins) are prohibited).

Well that would define your definition of hacking.

I could easily say that someone with a better system ping etc than me is “hacking” in the sense that they have an unfair advantage over whatever skill they possess. Example would be we are equal in skill in reality but my frames are so bad I have a harder time than you (with no bad frames) puttin the crosshair on you. If you look at it this way then everyone hacks in comparison to everyone else.

NOW. If you mean blatant cheats which give one an unfair advantage (aimbots, wallhacks, 3rd person) then there is NO way you can stop it. EVER. You either put up with it or dont play im afraid to say. As long as there are counter measures vs cheats some jackass coolguy no gettin sex cause hes a loser nerd ass will sit there and make up cheats that bypass the pb system. Then pb will update after the community gets the hack passed around and so on and so forth.

Good luck though. The easiest way I have found is to play hackers like you would a non hacker that is superior to you. Just leave the server and go to another.

I have yet seen only about 3 cheaters on pubs who weren’t caught by PB, and played once against a clan I believed was cheating. I have also seen a couple of demos of cheaters. So all put together these are about 10 people I have seen cheating.

On the other hand this is the gazzilionth topic about cheaters in ET, and there is a constant whining about cheaters on some servers. If I take the time to check the accused player by speccing, all I see is an avarage player pwning some n00bs.

Don’t accuse people of cheating unless you have an understanding of what a great player is capable of doing. I know for a fact most people haven’t got a clue what that is.

Same old story - the moment you crouch, zero’s in on your opponents head and begin either moving backwards strafing where your opponents head should be or you move/sprint in short, fast diagonal or side-to-side motions (you know, like you would if you knew how to firefight 1v1 and wanted to win) then ppl don’t like it - their ego has been shattered and they want to blame someone or something else - couldn’t just be that they were pwned :open_mouth:

Man, I play regularly on the old RtCW 1.1 servers (hurry up DSL) and so far the only exploit I’ve seen (bearing in mind they have no PB) is an old grenade ‘bug’ - tbqh, I’d prefer it if some of the more useless players did use an aimbot, just to improve the overall game :open_mouth: - I got accused yesterday of using an ‘aimbot’ lmfao - lucky for me the ppl playing knew my name and told the other guy to naff off - just couldn’t handle someone having more experience in the game :confused:

1% cheats + 99% bad losers.

In my time playing ET (I’d hate to think how many hours), I have only ever come across one person cheating who had got passed PB. Ingame com went like this…

P1 ‘Hey guys, look, someones cheating!’
P2 ‘Mate, what aimbot you using??’
CHEAT ‘Not using a bot’
P1 ‘Very nice. Bye now’

P1 called a vote… CHEAT KICKED

And that was that - we put up with the fuckwit for about 30 seconds after we realised he was cheating (one of his team pointed it out!).
Is that so difficult to put up with???

there are undected cheats so called “private hacks” i.e. not available to download on some website

i dont know whats more sad the cheater who thinks hes really good

or the one guy who cries out " no man, hes REally good U just suCK!!"

lmao i regularly played on some clan server and the best guy in the clan was recently kicked out for cheating turns out hes elite in writing these things up he knows C++ and all that crap to write up hacks, he often gets offers to join clans and joins then leaves them, or thats what the clan leader told me but i personally thought they know he cheatd this guy would always be accused so one time he said hed only use a pistol and he still got highest fragger lol 28 or so pistol kills

yup exactly, many people hack as we play and we have no idea, things to telll id they are cheating…
if they kill u in 3 shots or less everytime while u are moving around a lot, if they know where u are like say im hiding behind a wall and they somehow know u are there without seing u and they throw a grenade in when u know none saw u, or other obvious things, and if they have over 40% accuracy with like 50- 60 kills with the mp40/thomson guns, so far i have caught 7 undetected hackers, and many i cant catch there must be something to catch these fucken llosers who cheat/hack !!!

FFS has it ever occurred to you that maybe people are that good? 3 headshots can kill just about anybody. If you hide in the same spot, or well known hiding spots, they can come in guns ablaze and get you; or you could be moving…
And your accuracy remark makes me wonder how bad your aim is :rolleyes:

The best players in most games play at a LAN events, where the organizers supply the systems, and players screens are often shown to hundreds of people on gaint screens. Players are usually not allowed to install any software on the tournament systems.

Anyone familiar with these players will see that they play just about as well at these events as they do online (unless they are as drunk and stoned as narf at qcon :P). So you can say, with reasonably certainty, that these people don’t cheat in their online matches either. For them, cheating online would be stupid, even if they were sure of not getting caught, because the real money is at LAN events.

Major online matches are also shoutcasted and for some games (RTCW and Q3) also shown on gtv/wolftv. If someone was cheating in one of these matches, it would be very obvious the the shoutcasters/tv camerapersons/tv audience. There is often one or more league admins present as well.

So the that many of the top clan players cheat demonstrably bullshit. If other people are cheating, it doesn’t seem to help them much, because the top players still walk right over 99.9% of the general ET pub population.

Private cheats certainly exist, but they are by definition not widespread.

I hope ArCaNeZeEm will post the names of his undetected cheaters. I’m bet some members of this forum will get a good laugh from it.

I have a demo of my favorite cheating accusation (where I was the accused.) The grenade at 18:20 got me kicked for ‘using a wallhack’ at the point where the demo ends. :smiley:
