My son and I have been trying to play the game on a lan with no success. Message keeps poping up on all game types that 4 players is a must. We just wanted to do deathmatch for 2, can this be bypassed somehow? Any assistance would be great. Thanks.

Sure. On the server hosting the game, select the Advanced button at the bottom of the server setup screen. There’s an entry on the left side for minimum players. Just set that to 2 and you should be just fine.
