empty cd key not allowed?

hi there,

I had been playing ET for around 2-3 months and it stared to gimme “Empty cd key not allowed on htis server” msg and kicks me outta server. if I’m not mistaken u need a legal copy of Rtcw and then ETis free? right? and I have a legal copy (with a unique cdkey for rtcw) and ET is installed over it - but I’m being kicked out for that stupid reason for the last 5-6 days. I figured its about punkbuster and if I join a non-punkbuster server it works. but I wanna play in pb servers as well? what do I have to do?

also I checked out the forums and it says if you go “\pb_cdkeyreg” in console it should work fine. so I did that and got a new CDkey registaration as well and it didnt work.

I think the problem started when I installed Radiant (the map editor) and did some maps and tried them on our office LAN - and there is one other computer that gives that msg now too…what can be done ? any ideas? thanks in advance

It’s a pb problem.
First update PB.
Execute pbweb.exe in the pb subdirectory.
Then get a new key.

Version 1.185 of the PB Client for ET has been released to our PB Master Servers for auto-update and to our website download page. This version corrects a bug in v1.184 released earlier today that was causing PB to delete the etkey file and in some cases erroneously kick players for having an empty cdkey.

As you can see Punkbuster/Evenbalance released an autodownload update that deleted many peoples CD/ETKey’s. This key contains your GUID key and Punkbuster enabled servers will kick you if you do not have one.

Players who are getting “Empty CDKey” messages trying to connect to PunkBuster ET Servers may attempt a manual CDKey registration.

You can try and get a new CDkey by typing “/pb_cdkeyreg” in console (without the quotes) or you can try to update via pbweb.exe in your pb folder.

One or both should work.

normaly when i get this i delet my etkey then restart ET and type /pb_cdkeyreg and it works fine again.
