Elite Cases are too expensive?

Then don’t spend money. You can earn everything with credits. It just takes time. You can even get the cosmetics if you want to spend that much time. If your focus is gameplay then you are set without spending real money at all.
Well, I would like to spend money on the game, Splash Damage deserves it. The problem is, with the current pricing of the elite cases it just doesn’t “feel good” to spend money on the game.
“I think the devs deserve the money but 5$ is too much”. Great logic.
If you think they deserve it, you’ll spend no matter what you get for your money. But it seems to me you think SD is obliged to give you many things for your money, even if “they deserve it”.

Well, I don’t think his problem is the 5$, but what you get for the 5$. As someone who has spent money on this game (Ultimate starter pack) And as someone who often spends money on F2P games, I feel like the pricing on most things in Dirty Bomb is off. In terms of what you get vs what you pay for. For the price of one elite case, which has a random chance of giving you a decent cosmetic card, hopefully for a merc you actually like, you could buy a cheap game on steam. Same with the 9$ pricing for merc, just doesn’t feel worth it for what you get. 5$ per case for a random rarity on a random loadout for a random merc just isn’t very appealing. The odds of getting anything you want are pretty low.

Now, I know I can just play and grind credits, which is what I do, but if everyone does that the game doesn’t make any money. I think the pricing needs some adjustment in terms of what you pay vs what you get to make things more worth buying. I bought the starter pack because I felt it was a pretty good deal.

This pretty much explains what I meant by “buying the elite cases for 5 bucks a piece doesn’t feel good” but I wasn’t eloquent enough to write it down like this. Thanks.a

They won’t lower the prices anyway simply because the players who already bought cases will ask for a refund/more cases to compensate. You can’t just put a price and then later change it (In gaming)

(ghostBase) #45

Following this logic I should demand a refund for skyrim because I bought the game when it was 60 bucks and now its only 20 on steam.

looks at credit card bill with over $250 spent on elite cases

Yes, I agree they are too expensive :stuck_out_tongue:

You’ll likely buy twice more crates than you’d have. And that’s the whole problem with this.
To halve the price, SD and Nexon need some guarantees that they will sell twice more (following my older thread, this implies halving everything in the crates/loadouts part of the store). And it should also cover the consequent refund they will have to do for people who bought stuff at a 5€/$ elite case reference price (Since everything in real money shop is somehow constantly priced, they have good reasons to do a refund, or it is going to be a nice community mess about it).
I’m not really sure, but in my opinion, it is far from being guaranteed in this game that halving the prices will twice the sell volumes (in numbers, not money).

(PenguinHorde) #48

i would be fine playing way more money than they are currently asking (10 bucks for a cobalt, 7.50 for a gold and 4.00 for a silver) if i actually got to pick what i was getting (i think the bronze load-out cards should be reduced to 2.50 as they cock-block people who want to get in and go play comp)

(PenguinHorde) #49

It’s not just that. It’s random. If it were not random, I would be much more inclined to spend money. I don’t have money for gambling on 2D skins that aren’t even that impressive to begin with. I don’t aspire to a skin that is blue instead of green and gold, but I may buy one if I think it looks good.
this too, league of legends skins make a huge impact on the look and feel of the champion even the rushed theme ones are nice, I usually don’t realize that my opponent has a skin until he kills me and i see the card.

This… Now my bill is 210 but it’s basically the same
[But yeah it is really too expensive for a Random item]

These threads all tend to follow the same path, though as nice as the poll idea is, the team will data that is much more reliable to them: actual sales figures. Whether enough of the people who have downloaded the game have actually paid for cases (or anything) is something they can’t really make a snap call on. Consider that the game has only been in open beta for a month now, and is still bringing in fresh players. The price of elite cases doesn’t make someone quit the game, so they can afford to just “wait and see” how many sales they get out of their total players. You need to just watch figures for a decent period of time to truly understand if you made the right call with your pricing structure. After that, I guess we’ll see.

That said… I’d rather they work on adding separate cosmetic consumables. The alienware skins are pretty nice, for example, but the fact they’re tied to a specific loadout really limits their use. I’d like to be able to have my chosen skin and then my chosen weapons/augments. Large changes, though, and completely changes up the loadout system as it is now, so I don’t see this coming any time soon. I’m pretty sure changes are coming, though, so I guess we just have to be patient.
