----I came here to discuss something seriously but all the feedback I received was 98% someone wanting to listen to themselves talk, cause trouble and avoid the real topic and situation at hand. Why not ask questions as to what happens rather than jumping on my ass and telling me I am wrong and this is the way it is. If I wanted a 1 sided conversation I would get a wife, not go to a DISCUSSION FORUM.

well that’s the thing with mods. you can’t trust them until they’ve been around long enough. i wouldn’t put it past someone to make a mod with intentional exploits in it, for example.

johnny creates a mod. the mod catches on. johnny adds a cvar to reduce weapon spread and doesn’t tell anyone. johnny becomes a big fish within the small pond he created.

not saying this flaw is intentional, but stranger things have happened - especially in multiplayer gaming.

Changes to anti lag / hit boxes in etpub 0.4.1:

  • josh: Added g_truePing(0|1). Will calculate ping as the time between the
    current time and the client’s last command time stamp.
  • tjw: added g_maxWarp cvar (see docs)
  • tjw: fixed head hitbox position for moving animations
  • tjw: increased the crouch hitbox adjustment because the moving animation
    is taller than the idle one.
  • josh: Fixed unlagged skip correction. The bouncing is gone now. It was
    caused by the velocity never being copied over in the original
    ET code. So velocity was always very very wrong. g_skipCorrection 1
    should work VERY nicely now.
  • tjw: adjusted the standing/crouched head hitbox position to better match
    the player model.
  • josh: minor fixes to skip correction to better match ET’s bg_slidemove.
    This may have fixed the bouncing problem which is caused by
    skip correction.
  • josh: antilag debug info now only prints for the hit entity. Won’t print
    anything if it does not hit a player. This happens in the same place
    the hitbox is drawn.
    ourobouro this mod has been arraund long enough and it doesnt deserve the flames

Well, what I have stated isn’t to flame it…it is a serious flaw.

It’s not just me…alot of other people are having these problems too.
Sorry Josh and other ETPUB people…it is not to put another mod first, it is the objective truth.

Velocity was always very wrong with the skip correction they used. It’s ported from Quake3, ET might be based on the Quake3 enginge but it aint fully compatible. Also I didnt mean you flamed, I was talking to ourobouro about that, where he said etpub mod cant be trusted

I can jump around a corner and shoot, then turn around and run away, turn around again and look for my bullets and they are still trailing.

If you have a demo of this behavior it would probably help the ETPUB guys more.

Anyway the bullet trails has nothing to do whether you actually hit anything. Guns are using instant hitscan to determine if they actually hit anything. This hitscan only occurs when the server receives your attack command. The bullet trace is purely for show.

Ourboro, that’s quite a cheap shot, even by your low standards. Instead of shooting blanks, why don’t you download the etpub source ( http://et.tjw.org/etpub/dist/ ), find the “intentional exploit” and then expose it? Instead of making a fool of yourself by making unfounded accusations about a mod whose source is freely available, you’d be the hero that irrefutably proved such an exploit existed.

Your contention that etpub was written so the authors would get more kills is just plain laughable. Etpub’s already running on 128 servers (Check ASE before trying to tell me it’s not), and at the moment 1100 players are playing (versus 2600 in etpro pubs, and 2100 in shrubet, according to ASE). If the mod was written so that the development team could get more kills don’t you think they would have stopped development by now?

ETPro has some intentional exploits, like the “shrug” command or the configstring thingy.

as much as I agree with your assessment of ouroboro’s character, I can’t really see where he is flaming etpub, this IS a discussion forum and he was just stating an opinion on what COULD happen with a mod, not that you were intentionally exploiting anything, remember Discussion is the heading of this forum, it ain’t Judge Judy

This is shockingly unlikely. The allies and axis use the same code for hit detection. All hitscan weapons use the same hit detection in the end, and the mp40 and thompson, share almost all of the relavent code.

The engine doesn’t know which team a shot came from, so the 2.6 upgrade is unlikely to have that effect.

Bullet tracers have essentially nothing to do with where the actual shot went, so they do not help you diagnosing actual hit detection problems. Tracers have various bugs, but that isn’t relevent to hit detection.

Not to say that something wasn’t going wrong, but what you describe doesn’t make much sense. A demo would be the obvious place to start figuring out what is actually going on.

as for ouroboros line of offtopic BS. we have come to expect that from him. :moo: Random speculation about what a mod might do has nothing to do with the alleged bug. Especially when the source is available for this particular mod.

If I was the only one having these issues I would not have posted the problem…
I have already had the notion of demos for diagnosing, although I want to gather some from other people.

Absolutely. Etpub.org is the best place to discuss bugs since the devel team checks its forums very often. Flame fests are not welcome though, they will be quickly put out.

I dont care if you play ET Pub or Pro , but each are meant to be played diffirently , you dont need as good hit detection in ETPub because it is just game , but ETPro is competition and it needs all perfect , but it will not be as funny - END …X
