Early stage of my map

(evillair) #1

The map is called Flak Cannon and you can view a few images here.

I don’t have the main objectives modeled yet so it’s a little empty and I’m still working on the bsp.
The screens are taken from the second Axis defense front. I haven’t gotten to the start section yet.
The lighting is also just temperary.

Any comments, crits welcomed.

The name of the site is called LegionGhost since I use that name when playing ET.

Thanks.

Updated with new images.

Here.

I’ll be looking for people willing to beta test soon…I’ll keep you posted; just trying to fix a few scripting issues. (Unless you guys don’t mind playing a map where no one wins since the scripting isn’t done.)

Thanks.

(Slippery Jim) #16

Some very nice pics indeed. Feels and looks professional.

Your large screenshot images are huge though on your website. 400K jpg images are pretty hardcore, lol. Compression is your friend, remember.

(Ubiquitous) #17

I really like the design and textures you are using… The sky was an added touch, with the mixtures of colors. Do you have a rough design of the layout of the map?

(turk2000) #18

for me too!
Compliments.

(evillair) #19

Thanks guys.

Here’s the temperary command map I’m using.

(Fluffy_gIMp) #20

Looking very cool, I know the map is early in development but you asked for comments so you got 'em:

If you get the opportunity I’d suggest re-colouring the pak gun skin so as it’s textured in the temperate style rather than the desert one.

It might be nice to break up some of the hills with some rocks (either brushes or models).

If you can it might be good to break from the old brick style of texture as it’s used quite a lot at the moment, using different types to theme different areas.

Add some puddle decal shaders to some areas if you can, because they look cool

Some rickety wooden fences might also work quite well as a detail to the terrain, adding a bit of context.

Maybe add some vehicles models, road systems etc so that the environment has a used/lived in feel.

Finally…Reference…Reference…Reference, if you don’t have loads already collect a few photos that will help you add feature areas to certain zones. It gives the player something nice to look at but also acts as a landmark for a certain route or area.

All in all comming on nicely, I look forward to playing te final product.

P.S. The command map layout looks cool!
