E.T on MAC??

(ARCHY) #1

I along with many others, I have been patiently waiting for E.T to be released on Macs. But so far i have seen nothing.
When are we going to get our hands on it? You have released it for Linux so surely the Mac version has either been delayed or it’s in the works?
I hope we are not going to be fobbed off with some excuse? I also can’t help but wonder if maybe the reason would be that Spash Damage are the type of people who are very attached to what they know (P.C) - and in turn hold a grudge against us Mac gamers/users. :bored: - Maybe i’m very wrong about that, but those people do exsist.

Hope you can understand my frustration.

Regards - ARCHY

This has been discused before, I really don’t know the reason of why it hasn’t been developed for Mac. But I can tell you one thing:

It is not up to SplashDamge to make the decision. SD just made the game, the game belongs to Activision / ID Software.

(ARCHY) #3

rite ok well maybe SD should pick a phone up and say something to someone at activision about this matter- seeing how it’s been discused it before.

(senator) #4

How about YOU pick up a phone and call Activision and tell them that you want them to pai SD so that they can develop a MAC version ? I don’t even know whether SD has any MAC developers, maybe a new developer team needs to be hired and Activision isn’t willing to pay that money just to support the relatively small MAC community with ET ?

(pgh) #5

We dont know if its small yet as it isnt even released on it yet  - Cant you use some sort of Windows Emulator and run it?

(squadjot) #6

yeah right lol…

(pgh) #7

Heh?

There is such a thing m8. I just didnt know if its decent enough to handle high load things like ET. We used one at school about 2 years ago to run Photoshop and AutoCad because they couldnt afford the Mac License’s. \o/

(bani) #8

i’m working on this. i’ll let everyone know what happens.

You know, Jobs hasn’t done a such a bad job of re-packaging a free operating system, throwing in some obselete CPU’s, bundling it all together in a shiny case and charging money for it.

Ironic then that someone should port a free game…

(Hydra) #10

You should charge 60 dollars just for the heck of it, Mac users won’t believe it’s a ‘quality’ game otherwise

(Kendle) #12

Is there no end to Bani’s talents? That would be great if it can be done, anything to add to the overall player base has got to be a good thing, not that I think ET needs it exactly at the moment (just about holding onto No.2 spot, mostly, ahead of BF1942 and COD), but poor old MAC users are hardly spoilt for choice when it comes to FPS games.

(Juan) #13

That should please the Urban Terror Mac players with regard to the ET port :skull:

I really hope Smyler dosnt see this post coz he has a lot of things to say about topics like this and needless to say some of the things he says are no that nice lol

(stimpee) #15

according to the Activision website http://www.activision.com/en_US/corporate/contact.html you can email them at info@activision.com and ask them there. who knows? if more people ask, then its got to have some effect.

Read the thread dude.

Man you don’t believe the restraint I have employed with regard this topic.

But to make all our Mac cousins happy there are rumours that I am to be employed by SD to actually do a conversion for the mac. I intend it to be as close to the origonal as possible, with the exception of a few minor adjustments like instead of nazis and allies, I reckoned pigtailed girl scouts and teddy bears (with yellow tartan jump suits of course).

I am expecting confirmation of my new employment very soon now and promise to fuck the entire project up as much as humanly possible :drink:

Right off to buy a macintosh, I believe they keep the rain out nicely
