dynamite bug

(FallenMatt) #1

maybe this is also associated with other “Weapons”

this is what happened to me today:

i was playing allies
i’ve got to the roof of the fuel dump, jumped down on the fuel dump (the top of the “fuel tank”
i switched to dynamite and clicked my mouse button to throw it down, then some axi from the roof hit me with a gun, about twice, i paniceked and moved forward, jumping down behind the fuel tank (in that tight spot where you have to crouch to get into)

well, the dynamite got “stuck” in the “throwing dynamite” animation loop
i couln’t switch to any other weapon (both rolling the mouse wheel or pressing number keys to switch directly)

couldn’t also actually finish planting the dynamite.
so finally axi found his way in and killed me… the whole episode lasted a whole minute or two…

If the dyno stays in a “flying” state you cant do nothing, only stay aside and pray that it will fall down.

(FallenMatt) #3

it wasn’t “flying” yet
it was still “Attached” to my hand
the animation was looped as if i was over and over throwing the dynamite but never actually releasing it

so i became useless on the battlefield, can’t put dynamite down, can’t change to any other weapon, can only run around hoping it get;s “fixed” by itself (it didn’t)

Haha…

I only wish someone else had a demo of you running around chasing your flying dynamite.

I know the bug : With me, when this happens, it also makes the ‘cracking up the timelimit onm the dynamite’-clicking-sound out of RTCW.
As there’s no possibity (yet) to determine what timer to set on your dynamite, i dont know why this happens.

And man : Do you feel helpless when this happens
I also had a 3 minute-period-time at the fueldump, with this stick dyna

Hmmmm. It would be interesting if another engineer could arm your errant dynamite. Then you could run into the depot like a suicide bomber. Probably wouldn’t trigger the depot being exploded though. But it would be mildly amusing.

Hmm, what kind of keyboard/mouse are you using?

(FallenMatt) #8

Microsoft Internet Keyboard Pro
and Logitech Optical mouse (whatever the model name is), 2 button + wheel

both keyboard and mouse are USB

and now er… a catch (this is why my info may be useless) I am running ET on linux under winex (transgaming wine libraries) because native linux ET crashes way too often to be playable for me.

so this is windows ET running on linux under winex.

Same setup as i have here then (hardware wise), i’d suspect then as you do, that’s it related to your weird software setup, some key/mouse events getting screwed up.

EDIT: Next time, try typing -attack at the console.

(Bunkermaster) #10

Works same way with the mines. If you drop one on a curved surface the drop sound loops until the mine disapears itself after it times out. Collision bug imho.

Im using an ordinary logitech mouse, with the sioftware drivers from their site. And running win98 : But also getting this problem sometimes ; I will try -attack though next time.
But just so you guys know it’s also happening with Logitech (for me at least it is)
