Downloading map saving problem

(_NeT_WalBanger) #21

well this is just stupid now…

I have the maps etc in ALL the the folders so even if its wrong it should still work
when someone connects they get this problem

It works absolutly fine for me… when i delete a file it downlaods at 180k/s but for others (99% of people) it just gives them that error :frowning:

This is what the WEBPAGE looks like

ETmain folder

ETpro folder

That will most likely break things. As you are noticing :bash:

(Nail) #23

you should only have the current etpro pk3 in etpro folder along with the two that say etpro only, that’s all you need in etpro folder on redirect server

(_NeT_WalBanger) #24

but it used to work thats what gets me :(…

ill delete them tommoz, see what that does

but why does it download from
http://www.net-clan.com/wolfweb/etpro/
when it downloads…

(SCDS_reyalP) #25

That means the game server thinks the maps are in the etpro directory, most likely.

(eRRoLfLyNN) #26

Probably, that’s why we are tryin to tell you to take the maps out of the etpro folder!! :stuck_out_tongue:

1 other thing I’ve just thought, when I say restart server, I mean restart ET on the server, not just exec the server.cfg. As far as I know (could be wrong) ET needs to actually be quitted and restarted to load the new pk3s or know where they are. Just in case you haven’t been doin that.

(SCDS_reyalP) #27

To recognize new .pk3 you only have to change maps. So if you add a new map, you have to load some other map that is already known. This causes et to rescan the available files, which will make it see the one you just added. Then you can change to your new map. I would expect deletions to be the same, but I’m not certain.

That said, restarting the server is a good idea. Particularly on unix like system where you can unlink a file while a process has it open.

btw sv_dl_maxrate is fastest on ‘0’ ( means unlimited , not nothing )

(eRRoLfLyNN) #29

Does sv_dl_maxrate only dictate the rate from the server itself, or does it have any bearing on the www redirect download rate? Always wondered about that!

(SCDS_reyalP) #30

AFAIK sv_dl_maxrate does pretty much nothing. It certainly has no control over redirects, and ISTR that it doesn’t actually work for UDP downloads either.

A users /rate does limit UDP downloads, but not www of course.

(eRRoLfLyNN) #31

Cheers for that, was never too sure about what it did

_NeT_WalBanger, have you got any further with your problem? :]

(_NeT_WalBanger) #32

hmmmmmm well kind of…
like i said i uploaded to BOTH folders and it didnt work… but then it suddenly did (didnt change anything, just went bed pissed off then got up and everyone was on it :))

so i have left it for now, because we have another server we are working on trying to get the admin mod working… when thats up and running i will add all the maps etc to the ETMAIN folders like you said to

Thanks for all your help guys
