Doom 3 Expansion

Is SplashDamage doing it?

I hope so, you did a very nice job on the mutiplayer maps. But in order for Doom 3 to be better for multiplayer it needs a few things - among those already mentioned, url redirection, PunkBuster, better voting options (right now it’s all or nothing), GUID based kick/ban (PB will offer that), ability to kick inactive players (g_inactivity), private client slots (like in the Q3 engine), spectator slots (i.e. you could set a 6 player server with 4 active slots and 2 for specs), anti-spam or mute player options (people are learning to use the voice commands and spam them often), and more console commands (i.e. rcon status doesn’t work).

Thank you.

Maybe I.d could impliment some decent net code so i can actually hit something in a 1v1

Doom3 sp=Teh win \o/
Doom3 mp=steaming pile of dog poo (allthough the maps are very nice splash damage :X )

get used to the per/poly hit detection imo  and get rid of your hitbox-aim :stuck_out_tongue:

Doh forgot about that :stuck_out_tongue:

Seriously though .Are most of you finding servers to be very laggy? They seem to run fine untill you start fireing at someone then they grind to a halt :frowning:

I wouldnt be the slightest bit surprised if some hosts are giving the same resources for a D3 server as they would for one with a similar number of players …running CS.

A coop gametype would be awesome. The single player is so great in this game.

Imagine mission based coop games, where traps would imprison a team-mate and you and others have to go save him. Or imagine a sort of anti-coop where each chooses a side - marine or hell and helps minions / soldiers on either side complete a mission/task. Multiple levels of coop would be great too. Complete so many tasks till the next level, then it loads a new map. The PDA could be used for maps and markers, and even able to communicate with team-mates and set waypoints. The keosks could provide new missions or other things.

Lots of possibilities for coop. Even a mission randomizer that has a bunch of missions and maps and can mix them based on a cookie cutter format to provide tons of variations and possiblities.

Just brainstorming …
