Don't go out of your way to do Missions, guys.

(Samniss_Arandeen) #1

Yeah, when people have the Missions to play certain Mercs, it incentivizes playing those Mercs over playing Mercs that the team actually needs.

(sentimentalDime) #2

Sorry if this offends you in any way, but, what was the point of this thread? To make SD aware of the fact that people don’t want to merc mission, or make people delete their missions with get X xp with Y merc?

(Faraleth) #3

Removed the names from the image for yah - and yeah, I gotta agree it kinda sucks seeing my team filled with certain mercs because it just so happens people need to do the missions >.<

It sucks for me too, because I hate playing some mercs, but sometimes I’m forced to put Aura or Sawbonez in my squad just to do some support exp, when I’m 1000 times better with Sparks.

I understand the point of the missions, but I think missions need to be more focused on goals you can complete WHILE playing as you normally would, without compromising and limiting your experience.

(Backuplight) #4

Who cares if you have three Proxies if they’re playing the objective well? Three Vassilis I could see taking an issue with. If you want to be picky about your team and have real comps, probably best not to pug.

(Samniss_Arandeen) #5

That would certainly go a long way to team compositions that actually make sense from any semblance of a tactical perspective, and would be easier because we get to use Mercs we enjoy playing as/are good at.

“Stop 20 defuses”, “Disable 10 EVs”, “Kill 16 enemies within 8 seconds of being revived”, etcetera.

They weren’t. Two of them were dicking about in the streets (attacking on Terminal) and charging head-on into their Rhino.

Then again, the probability is quite high you’re going to have a team full of non-essential mercs people want to play anyway in their quest for the highest k/d rat—I mean while achieving the objectives. You may as well earn some money before you smash your keyboard on the desk

(MarsRover) #7

These are way, way worse that what we have.

Stop defuses - limits maps, almost attacker only, depends on enemy team and your team
Disable EVs - limits maps, limits mercs, defender only, depends on enemy team and your team
Kill X enemies within Y seconds of being revived - situational as fuck, good luck doing that with a merc with no damage abilities

Current XP missions can be completed in a wide array of ways. How would narrowing them stop people from choosing suboptimal mercs for the team?

I wouldn’t mind some monthly missions for bonus credits/cases/etc… But the basic missions for f2p players should be as simple as possible.

(B_Montiel) #8

Three proxies is way better than three of the same recon :D…

(Potato_Ladder) #9

Missions need to be clearer that you don’t need to play specific mercs to get exp in their missions and yes, this actually happens.

(Rjsto) #10

Fighting against team with three proxies is a pain in the buttocks though

(SteelMailbox) #11

Ha you are here crying about 3 Proxies that can actually do the OBJ while I got my ass handed to me by 4 Rhinos.

(Izzy) #12

I am a bit confused. When you have a merc mission, doesn’t mean you have to play him necessarily.
For instance, when I have a support mission to do with Sparks, I take sparks and Aura or stoker, and do the mission with Aura or stoker.

I put Aura in my squad then proceed to use Sawbonez for the mission. And I’ll usually have a fire support in the squad for that mission too.

(Jostabeere) #14

It’s a pub game.

(watsyurdeal) #15

Thus why I think we should just have 3 missions that reset every 4 hours, Waterboy, Objective Monkey, and Hunter Killer.

Make them the 1000 credits versions, and just cycle them throughout the day.

(TheAcidpiss) #16

thing is a lot of people don’t realise that they just have to have to merc in their squad, not play with the merc to get the mission done.

If ive got a 4500xp waterboy mission for sawbones or something and I havent got much time, ill put aura in my squad and play her on execution and have it done in like 7 rounds lol

Missions will always be bad for the gameplay. Back in the days gamers played for the fun of it. You did not earn any gold, packs or XP. You logged into the game, joined a server, killed a bunch of people, logged out and did not earn anything. However, for some reason people need incentive to play games nowdays.

I really dislike the missions in this game. It was bad before CW update and I felt like I always had to play something that gives support XP. Fragger/Nader/Vasili/Red Eye is pretty much unplayable if you only play when you have missions up. I was hunting Chapel Objective server and always played Skyhammer on defense. I was nonstop chasing people with ammo. Always let the enemy repair the EV when my airstrike is up to get game mode XP.

Since CW update this has become way worse. Now I´m forced to waste time playing a game mode I really not enjoy playing (Execution). When I do these missions I just want to get it over with ASAP. If I have my win x amount execution games I look for a server with new players and join the strongest side. I normally get around 3-4 kills per round when playing execution so it goes quite fast to clear my mission. In the process I pretty much destroy the experience for the new players.

There are a few possible solutions. Make it so you can choose quests. One for game mode, one for merc xp and one for xp type. The 1,2 or 3 stars can still be random.
Or remove the quest system completely and increase the gold earned by playing instead. Preferable be rewarded according to XP you gained. No bonus for being on the winning side as this will have a huge negative effect on team balancing.

(Grave_Knight) #18

I think the original point wasn’t that missions are bad only that you shouldn’t focus so much on the mission that the team has bad composition. Nor should you feel so inclined to complete the mission in one game. Proxy’s mission in particular is pretty easy if you can get on defense side since you get game mode XP just from the Long Defense bonus.

(Litego) #19

Pubs, I play what I want, not necessarily what the team needs. Be it missions, practice or for fun.

(Rosskii) #20

If you need to have proxy in your squad, then you can play with any of your 3 merc’s and you will still complete the mission. So you dont “need” to play with proxy in that situation.
