Don’t kick new players just because they’re new. I’ve been in dozens of games where higher level players kick lower levels for the simple fact that they are a very low level, and the higher levels want a better player on the team. How are new players supposed to feel when they get kicked for the sheer reason of not playing earlier? Or how are they just supposed to play in general if they get kicked from every other game?
I know a lot of us don’t do this, but for the one’s that do… well don’t. That ain’t cool.
Don't be too harsh with new players.

There is a difference between a new player and an idiot, even though there is some overlap.
Not giving ammo after being asked half a million times in chat -> idiot.
Not knowing every nook and cranny of a map -> new player.

Are you trying to pretend that the default UI is good and that new players notice that tiny little square in the bottom left that displays “Ammo!” in a generic size 8 font that’s directed at no specific player?
The game has voice chat for a reason, although that presumes players are playing with sound or don’t default mute everyone like I do lmao
Why would you care anyway it’s casual 7v7 garbage if a teammate not giving you ammo annoys you that bad then go to Ranked where your rage is justified bruh

You could say that to literally anyone. Being an idiot isn’t exclusive to new players.
But I can kick them after yelling multiple times in their face “Give me the damn ammo!” ?
Counter counter counter PSA : that thread hasn’t even begun it’s already running in circles.
Are we too harsh with new players ? Yes, definitely. But there is still some moments where a kick is warranted. I don’t want to play with a newbie in my team if their behaviour is obnoxious.
In the end we can’t force any vets to take care of new players, but we can for sure try to make some efforts.
Anyway, title edited. Let’s keep the PSA title for actual PSAs.
moral of the story from what everything ive read here is to use common sense and dont kick low level players for being bad.
If their gameplay is literally detrimental to you and your team? Definitely. If they are plain and simple bad at the game? No. I experience many, many occasions where all I can do is facepalm, on a daily basis. But at the end of the day sucking is not a crime.
Now here’s to make this even further. If you are in a game where the enemy team has 3 low level players, don’t stomp them in their spawn either and laugh at them and call GG. I don’t care if there’s “only five minutes left” in the second half of the stopwatch match, shuffle that trash can of a match. Because to those players, those five minutes might be the last 5 they’ll ever play.
I start kicks for new players who refuse to contribute anything to the game, even after being asked. That 4th bottomscoring vassili that won’t switch, a medic who acts like they don’t know what an ability is, etc, but only when they’ve been told a couple times.
I don’t do it because I want a better replacement or even that I expect the vote to pass, I do it as a warning to them to get themselves together. I don’t really care about winning in casual, but I want them to get a feel for how the game is actually played so I can have better matches, both now and if I run into them down the line. If people seem to hate you because you won’t switch off vassili when you suck, eventually you’ll get sick of playing him.
I don’t mind bad players, I mind players who don’t understand the game and refuse to learn. Maybe I’m an ass, but oh well.

The only time I cast a votekick to a new palyer is when he is playing vaseline or camping and not helping at all. Or when they run back to already passed parts of a map. Or when he is a totall troll or trying to sabotage our efforts.

newbies that dont speak english
Somehow this image speaks volumes to me and I couldn’t help but laugh and smile a bit. I know this persons pain all too well… three years of face-palming and wanting to pull your hair out at some of the bizarre shit you see in DB will do that to you.
If a player is new and trying to learn, let them learn. If someone is being an ass and is purely a detriment to the team, well I leave that up to the rest of the team to decide on whether to kick them or not. I just help newcomers who are willing to learn. The assholes I just tune out and ignore, and continue playing as I always would, rather than allow them to spoil my enjoyment of the game.
That being said, I don’t usually go for vote kicks unless its against someone who’s contributing nothing to the team and being a general asshole about it. I leave it up to my team when its not that case as I ultimately have gotten to the point beyond caring enough to weigh in on such votes.
Ive seen new players running around first spawn when were at last spawn on map
