Dome Redux is Exactly What I Didn't Want

My very first game on Dome, guess what happened? A spawncamp. gg SD you took the only map in the game resistant to spawncamps and made it super linear just like everything else except worse than everything else. Dome has gone from my favorite map in the game down to the “utter shit” levels of Dickyard and Chapel for me. They took a decent map with a few issues and took away all the fun in it while trying to fix those issues. Let me explain:

  1. All duplicity in routes is gone. Everything is now 1 big route with a few flanks. Just like everything else.
  2. A lot of trick jumps are gone. You can’t get much advantage from map knowledge anymore. Just like everything else.
  3. Secondary objectives don’t mean anything anymore and barely help either side. Just like everything else.

Overall, I’m really really disappointed with this re-work. I definitely will not be voting for it in the future.

Old Dome was never immune to spawn camps, though they were more rare, I’ll give you that.
Then again… the map was rarely played, so there is that too…

I haven’t played the new version yet so I can’t say much there.

People cried about the best map because it had actual side objectives and was big enough to ensure you won’t be choked in one point.
But new Dome is a disappointment and like the other maps. Dumbed down to maximum 2 paths at a given point.

Dumbed Down dome because apparently players dont know how to run the other way

This is even worse than the old dome, kiddies quitting halfway because theres only 1 way going outside of the objective and spawncamped

Honestly I don’t understand why ninja deliveries were so bad. If the enemy team was dumb enough not to guard the OBJ, they deserve to lose it.
It made for interesting teamwork, trying to distract the enemy team to deliver, or just powering through them. Now all we can do is power through them, which removes a lot of the replayability of the map imo.

Dome had lots of problems before, sure. It definitely needed a rework, but I can’t believe they made it worse.

In my experience, old Dome actually had more spawn camping than some other maps… Defenders could just bunker down behind the wall on the right-side route and blow up anything that moves in spawn.

The biggest issue with old Dome was the “stealth delivery” on objective 1, which happened almost every single game. It was badly designed and not in the spirit of what the map should have been - also, the map was so large, it was designed for bigger than 5v5 teams.

A lot of the major issues have been fixed with Dome Redux, and honestly I think a lot of it boils down to getting used to the map. We had a similar issue on Vault objective 1 when it first launched, and a lot of matches I was in, the attackers would get totally stuck on that objective and not progress past it… Since then, I’ve seen a lot more matches push further than objective 1, as people have adapted to the map more.

Honestly, I’d say give it a bit of time. If there’s major problems with it, I’m sure SD would have no problem looking at it again :slight_smile:

I’m not here to argue with any of you guys and your experiences…but easily by far Dome had the least spawn camping I’ve ever seen. I mean seriously…cross my heart and hope to die if I tell this lie…but Dome by far was the least…almost no spawn camping ever.

Honestly I can’t remember a time where I was ever spawn camped in Dome.

Is it bad if the redux kind of needs a redux? There is no way to get up to that MG nest from the attackers side. At first I thought the window flank route would get up there but it doesn’t. The window in fact is worthless. It’s kind of weird how you have to go through all this trouble to destroy the generator to open a route that leads you into a room you can just kind of walk into without that much risk. I’m not sure what the intention of the window was.

The second part does have some nice reworks but at the same time it still suffers from the same problems as before. They need to remove one of the possible objective. Prefer they remove Objective A as Objective B is actually a lot more interesting.

Third part is okay. There might be some issues with it I’m unaware of since I’ve only really experienced it from the defender’s side. Seems like old Dome but with less routes to get lost in.

Also, also, I want aspects from OLD OLD Dome.

I think we just have to accept Dome as the map nobody likes and just let it be there as a reason for people to complain.

P.S. I haven’t played the new Dome yet but I don’t have high hopes for it. I’ll edit this post if I change my mind : 3

I bet you also think they should get rid of the elevator and one of the paths for attackers on the first objective in underground as well? God forbid you’d have to use your brain, skill, or tactics…all you can think of doing is pew pew till your clip is empty at one spot!
