Does Kevlar Vest (soldier passive) do anything?

(CPT C@pslock) #41

I was talking about the ammo ability.

(wolfnemesis75) #42

Oh sorry, I thought you meant Kevlar Vest…coffee hasn’t kicked in yet I guess.

If you would be so kind … does Armor Piercing ammo work as described in the game’s text, or does a Soldier pass it out to others on the team? The answer just helps me ensure I am making the ā€œbestā€ possible Ability choices.

(Exedore) #44

It is only for Soldiers that have purchased it, it does not get passed on to others if they share ammo.
Armor Piercing Ammo upgrades the ammunition you supply yourself with, making it 100% effective against enemies who have the Kevlar Armor buff. However you cannot supply your teammates with the upgraded ammo, only yourself.

This is the exact wording from the game.
Thank you on the other hand: Screw you SD and Bethesda and make it possible for me to have the english language too if you are not able to transalate languages correct, you lalalalala heads!

The original german wording ingame is:

Panzerbrechende Munition verbessert die Munition, die du deinen Teamkameraden gibst und selbst benutzt. Sie ist zu 100% effektiv gegen Feinde mit Kevlar-Panzerung.

Thank you!

Just checking. The question just struck me this morning given the conversation earlier in this thread regarding the Engineer’s kevlar buff, which does benefit Soldiers (contrary to in-game text). An early interview mentioned that Jolly (I do believe) was handing out armor piercing ammo during the game demo. That game mechanic has been changed, and I am fine with it. I greatly appreciate the confirmation, however, that the in-game text is correct.

Thanks again!

Am i the only engineer who is frustrated by all the nublets fleeing the spawn area before I can buff them completely? I’m looking at you, medics. You need kevlar and and a weapon buff, and I’ve got them.

(Shadowcat) #48

I would end up being one of those medics, but its because i prefer to be a frontline battlemedic. I’d rather be up at the front tossing syringes than waiting in back hoping my team is the kind that will buff me.

(mortis) #49

Just imagine how much raging you’ll do on the frontline while sporting a nice orange buffed gun and a shiny new kevlar plate…

(Shadowcat) #50

Well, as a heavy, there’s another reason i have to rush right away. If i follow someone else using the buff key over and over, I can follow them all the way to the front lines, way faster than if i decided to wait a bit and then walk there on my own. Having a heavy get to the objective as fast as a light can is enough to get the edge at the start.

(mortis) #51

I can run down those pokey heavies and give them buffs. It’s just the medics springing away like bunny rabbits from the spawn that make me sad.

PS - I play as a medium, as a compromise between fast movement and putting myself in constant danger near the objectives…

(GameScrub) #52

HAHAHA I always wondered why sometimes I had a golden looking gun! I learn something new everyday, this game is deeper than I thought. =D

(Exedore) #53

Actually, that was just a mistake in the commentary at the time… I’d think it’d be obvious by now that we’re only human.

(Overgear) #54

After all the time I’ve played, I kinda learn not to wait in spawn for a buff. It rarely happens.
That and the fact I spawn in the wave that others dont spawn in.

(Smokeskin) #55

I’ve bound a sayteam asking for buffs. It works really well, lots of players buff you then, and often they’ll get wise to it and start taking a sec or two looking behind them to find buff targets when spawning.

Asking for teamwork gets you teamwork. Surprisingly
