Do you want Level to be shown or not? Or...

(Scav) #81

How so?
Anyone that is decent at the game can go make an alt account (Smurf) & start wrecking, just because a low bob is able to play well doesn’t mean they are hacking.
There are better ways to tell if someone is not legit & little numbers next to name are not it.
Im not sayin a low lvl cant play good, some ppl have history with FPS games, thus they are good. But when you see a very low lvl getting headshots all the time, its faster to realise that that dumbass is hacking, and you should spectate if needed. Also, I havent seen any hackers, who made it to higher levels (thankfully). But about hacking, you gonna realise it after a while anyways, but when its an obviously new account, you get the picture faster.

(kAndyREW) #82

yeah and when you get to lvl 100 either one, some, or all of these things will happen to you

 1. A LOT of people will make fun of you for having “no life”
 2. No one will want to play with you b/c they expect you to be god like (you probably won’t be)
 3. People will always point out when you don’t have a super high KD
 4. People will complain about balance if you happen to be crushing them

I’ve seen all of these happen to high levels.

Levels are cancer.

level are the only thing to show ppl how hard a person has played and understood dirty bomb game !! you have to keep levels because that is what encouraging ppl to move up and reach higher levels … even i am playing hard to reach lvl 100 so does i enjoy the game in the same hand i keep an eye on the level too !! simple … lvl is not gonna hinder you !! I can confirm, all of the above happens on every single server you play on. No exceptions. In addition to that, people will instantly disconnect from lobbies when they see the number.

(Demolama) #84

disconnect or call for a vote to kick them

(Scav) #85

I think its pointless, when this is resolved ppl will cry about something else. I personally like to easily locate a player i can rely on and work together in the clueless masses, and hell, maybe even check that decent person to play with again, maybe even competitive.
I see no reason by itself not to remove levels, at the same time, i find it pointless, the more info i know, the better. Some ppl prefer the comfort of cluelessness.

OH, and i also see ppl complaining about ppl trying to communicate through mic, which is basically essential, and also can be muted any time, and still.

Just to illustrate how useless those numbers are for estimating player skill:

(Mr_Hands) #87

…because a lvl 1 with a k/d of 50 is a hacker. A lvl 60 may be not.

(Mr_Hands) #88

why hide it then?

(MarsRover) #89

Anyone knows any working XP exploits? I need to quickly level up from 40 to 120, so I’ll be precisely 3 times better with accuracy about 110%. Sick6, I hope you are preparing a spot for me.

why hide it then?
I invite you to read this thread. I’m sure you’ll find enough reasons.

(Mrarauzz) #90

@Mr_Hands read my second post here…I don’t qoute cuz I am on mobile and I can’t but I said that because there is no point to level unlike in other games where level is a marker of your skill. There is no point in leveling up in this game and at my level lower levels actually leave lobbies because intimidation making the match more unbalanced. But yes there are more reasons if you would read the thread.

(Borganism) #91

While time in game = experience which helps in a game like this, Ive also had many low level players smack me down.

Ive also had my team leave when they see 3 x lvl 25+ on the other team even if we are kinda balanced skill wise.

The amount of shuffle calls when levels dont line up, even if the skill is even, is frustrating too. I had a game last night where multiple shuffle calls were made by the lower level players on my team and constant complaining about levels being uneven. All shuffles failed and in the end we won the closely fought match.

(Feley) #92

I think game just needs to show if the player is over level 10/15 or something like that, no need to show levels… We don’t get nearly as much for leveling up, as we get bullied for it…

Was trying other day to do as much headshots as possible, to train myself, it wasn’t easy cause I also readjusted FOV, then in the end some guy from enemy team, when they won commented: “lvl 42, can’t carry” (there were LOTS of other stuff I heard, this is just one)… Funny thing is that I was second on leaderboards in my team and I joined pretty late in game.

Only thing I can do not to get bullied is to make new account… I am not that calm person, and it would be better for me to get called hacker with level 1-10 than being mocked by some guys just cause I failed to be first on stats one single game…
Of course, I won’t make new account cause all progress I did would be for nothing.

(crooKk) #93

I like being able to see it because if I know i’m playing against a team off < 10 lvl players I just leave and find a better server.

The downside of that is player’s whining about imbalance because of my higher rank.

(Chubbster) #94

No because I legit made a comp player hater because I’m bad for a level 18. When this guy sees me in Min lvl 10 rooms, he tries to kick me every time. I have no peace of mind going into level 10 rooms now. My boyfriend gets bullied if he does badly for a level 40+ and I get bullied for even being level 18. You can’t win.

(BerylRdm) #95

Levels are a problem, as we all can see. I would substitute them for three ranks. One for players below current lvl 5. Also, I think people below 5 shouldn’t be allowed to play with higher levels - for both groups sake. Another rank for people 5 - 9. And the third, final rank for current level 10 and above.

(Soumin) #96

I don’t get why is it such problem for some, I mean are people that easily offended by a stranger on internet? I find this ridiculous and wonder what would happen if someone confront them about their time put in game and skill in person on LAN…
What will be next, steam profiles are linked in game, so remove it too cause it either shows your time spend in game (pretty much the same thing) or you go private and people will again confront you like they do in CS:GO.

at max, make it optional like they did it with Rocket League so we, who are emotionally stable, can still proudly show our hard earned meanigfull levels

@Soumin you are only looking at it from one perspective as if the only issue is one person trying to get under the skin of somebody else who has played the game more. When in reality the person who is the antagonist is legitimately upset a lot of times. Also, tons of people assume that balance is dictated by level as if this is an MMO when it’s not even a factor. Not to mention all the people who say nothing and simply quit out of games because of account levels.

It’s a huge negative from a lot of different perspectives beyond just somebody getting upset because somebody else called them either a no-life or said they were awful.

I do agree that it should be at least optional like Rocket League.

Hide levels because it causes unnecessary prejudice against veteran players, and also causes a lot of pressure on veterans to perform good for their level instead of just having fun. Also the amount of crying about “stacking” when people just glance at levels is ridiculous. I’m a high level, but average at best, with plenty of off-days. And the comments about me stomping or sucking because of my level yaddayadda, are just unnecessary.

People expect someone that’s a high level to carry and it just doesn’t work like that realistically. A high level player can be good, but it shouldn’t be expected of them. “Oh good, we have a high level on our team”… “Wow, your K/D was 15/20 and you’re level such-and-such?”

Not only that, but SO often, my sniper partner (lvl 56), when he plays good and has the best scores, everyone’s always screaming to start vote kicks on him. Or tells us to fuck off to comp. Like it’s just this endless barrage of having to mute people because they see our levels. Just needs to be given a rest so vets can play carefree how they want to play.

I definitely agree, but I would also mention that it goes the other way around as well. High lvl players complaining on their team because they don’t perform the way they want. It’s impossible to count how many matches I’ve played where the high lvl player (who is not playing very well) is blaming the lower lvl teammates for everything (often without a reason).

The problem is low lvl players expect too much from high lvl players and vice versa. Hiding the levels is the only solution I see at the moment. In fact, levels have no purpose whatsoever in this game. It’s just… oh you levelled up… congrats here is an equipment case and that’s it.

I wouldn’t mind it if they removed them completely tbh.

(opicr0n) #100

The amount of harassment people with high levels receive should be one big indicator that showing them is the wrong choice.

Like @ThomaZe - lvl 117(?) - there is not one match in which he does not get shit about his level.

 • No life
 • Try hard
 • You suck for your level

I think that level should be shown as 20+ after you level to high. And show the true level only to people in your friend list. This way you can still distinguish the newbies.
