Hide levels because it causes unnecessary prejudice against veteran players, and also causes a lot of pressure on veterans to perform good for their level instead of just having fun. Also the amount of crying about “stacking” when people just glance at levels is ridiculous. I’m a high level, but average at best, with plenty of off-days. And the comments about me stomping or sucking because of my level yaddayadda, are just unnecessary.
People expect someone that’s a high level to carry and it just doesn’t work like that realistically. A high level player can be good, but it shouldn’t be expected of them. “Oh good, we have a high level on our team”… “Wow, your K/D was 15/20 and you’re level such-and-such?”
Not only that, but SO often, my sniper partner (lvl 56), when he plays good and has the best scores, everyone’s always screaming to start vote kicks on him. Or tells us to fuck off to comp. Like it’s just this endless barrage of having to mute people because they see our levels. Just needs to be given a rest so vets can play carefree how they want to play.
I definitely agree, but I would also mention that it goes the other way around as well. High lvl players complaining on their team because they don’t perform the way they want. It’s impossible to count how many matches I’ve played where the high lvl player (who is not playing very well) is blaming the lower lvl teammates for everything (often without a reason).
The problem is low lvl players expect too much from high lvl players and vice versa. Hiding the levels is the only solution I see at the moment. In fact, levels have no purpose whatsoever in this game. It’s just… oh you levelled up… congrats here is an equipment case and that’s it.
I wouldn’t mind it if they removed them completely tbh.
