Do you think SD should reduce the grind?

I don’t know bud, Sawbonez is 30k and he’s the best damn medic there is. I’m not a huge fan of the model we have but there’s literally nothing else right now that the devs can monetise, so until we get cosmetics that’re worth paying for nothing will change, and even then it may not change that much. But honestly, the grind isn’t really that bad compared to other F2P games I’ve played.

If you do your missions every few hours you’ll amass a lot of credits within a week - I managed to pull out 50k in 4 days for example when they announced the Phoenix giveaway so I could get that Obsidian. And SD have reduced the grind already, pretty significantly actually, we used to only get 3 500 credit missions once per day. And assuming you do every gamemode once a day and win that’s 2000 credits straight up for little effort.

Not saying you’re wrong though, 'cause I get what you mean due to the sheer number of mercs we have now.
Sawbonez is subpar at best, aura, phoenix, sparks are the top medics
Phoenix has really terrible healing capabilities.

Sawbonez is an amazing medic with one of the highest HPS in the game. He is valuable to any team with an offensive strategy involving higher HP mercs. He is the least situational medic other than maybe Sparks.

I think the grind is fine, but I wouldn’t mind getting a % of your XP in credits, so people who play better are rewarded more. I think 10% of your XP instead of the current amount per minute would be nice
At least, this has been my experience, a fun game, focused on teamplay, and a fast gameplay.

But on the progressing part, its a grindfest.

Most of the mercs right now cost 50k credits, and thats a fucking lot. While, 4? just cost 30k. For a new player like me, its like saying your own game is pay2win. Im being serius, gives a bad impression. You are like telling new players that other mercs are better than others.

I dont know how much money are the devs making through this game, i hope a lot, since it shows progress at least. But it doesnt feel fun to get so little for putting your effort for getting so little progress. Being “good” at the game doesnt help anything at all.

As i have been investigating around, boosters are a worthless thing.

So, in summary, do you think SD should reduce the grind a bit? Like, making badges give a bit of extra credits? <(This is just an idea, dont jump spitting shit through your mouth.)
The answer is no. The devs have hit the sweet spot with credits, but their card system is pants on head retarded.

clearly you forgot about school like many people after they left it. i dont mind, i dont want to remember anything from those days, either.

(neverplayseriou) #45

@TheRyderShotgun dunno how much time people spend on school but if you’re busy the entire week with school you must be doing smthn wrong @,@

or staying in the dorms.

No, this game is very generous in regards to being able to unlock everything without paying a cent.

As someone mentioned earlier, if you only play once for a couple of hours per week, maybe F2P shooters aren’t for you.

Once you’ve played for a while, you’ll have more credits than you can spend.

Unless of course you buy those 1000 credit cases.

(FalC_16) #48

I love grinding and progressing through games…without it I would probably lose my hype around unlocking new stuff and rolling rare cards… atm I only spent around 100k for CW cases, but I feel like…lets make another 100k to find at least one CW loadout

200hrs to trade up to my first cobalt?

And I used to think ultima online was a grind…

how naïve!!!

(Fiktio) #50

290 hours in-game, level 19, amount of cobalts: 8
Only 3 of them are from elite cases, rest from trading up.
I guess this tells a lot where I’m spending all my earned credits.

(PeneTraitor) #51

I want everything cheap or free and reserve the right to complain there is nothing to do once I have it all

I don’t want to count right now but I think this may include buying all mercs. If you only play Skyhammer and want Cobalt for him, you should be able to get Cobalt much faster.

(Sussepus) #53

ah this discussion again.

credits are not hard to earn and you do not need to grind a lot. 50K in a week is doable for a casual player.
everything above bronze card is just cosmetics and not needed other than for bragging rights.
as all f2p games playing for free means having to work for the goodies. if thats not good enough you can always pay. just dont expect to get things handed to you at once for free.
A casual player can buy a merc + the best bronze card every two weeks and not pay a dime.
Dont see how that is grindy at all in f2p game.

However i dont understand the obsession of getting cobalts fast. but i dont understand why people will sleep outside for days just to get tickets to the premier of new star wars movie either.

With the current mission system you can get unlock all mercs and even trade up your leads and get some random gold/cobalt loadout drops, all for approximately 300h hours. For a multiplayer game this is barely anything.

Assuming you play every evening 3h you’ll have all the content unlocked in less than 4 months playing. Said like this it can sound a lot, but looking at any other multiplayer FPS. such as CoD or Battlefield, you spend almost the same amount of time levelling up to unlock the different gear.

The illusion of grind and pay2win, which it is absolutely not, comes from the fact that everything you unlock with in-game credits can also be unlocked with real money. If you’d remove the free2play transactions and would make DB a one time fee purchasable game, the progression wouldn’t even have to switch. It’s one of the few things DB can pride itself of being the best at: NOT being a pay2win.

So no, don’t change anything on the current progression system. And if you’re one of the players who only plays a couple of hours a week, then I’m sorry that it’s going to take for ever for you to progress, but any other FPS is the same.

(Aazhyd) #55

I got all mercs unlocked plus tons of good loadouts. If I didnt have the CW cases as a money sink, I would be sitting on 300k+ money now.

You dont need every merc, too. As long as you have good / fun ones for each merc type, you’re doing fine.

(p4v) #56

Each day play each mode at least once.
First Stopwatch match - 500c
First Objective match - 500c
First Execution match - 500c

You also get First Win Match bonus - 500c.

Do dailies that are listed in the menu. In total they always give about 2000c.

That’s 4000c without adding the credits you earned during matches. Take into account your performance and that’s additional 500c-1000c.
Depends how much you can play per week. I’m assuming most of these “No the grind is fine” people obviously have plenty of playtime.

It takes me more than a month to get a merc, and that’s cos I can only play once a week, so if you’re in the same boat as me, then you’re in the long haul buddy. Just keep an eye out for those free merc giveaways, that’s how I got three of my mercs. I think.
That would kill the game within a month. F2P games won’t change their system to reward you with an insane amount of in-game currency because there would be no reason to spend a dime on this game if you could buy everything after 50h of playtime.

If you have plenty of time, you buy mercs with credits you earned during your gaming hours.
If you have little time, you buy mercs with money you earned during your working hours.

This is how life works. This is how f2p games work. They can’t cater to someone who plays 1h-5h a week because the other half of the playerbase would be swimming in millions of credits.

I didnt even knew that…

(Verticules) #58

It’s a fps. I do not get how it’s a grind. You play matchs and try to win them everything else is OCD

(TheSoldier) #59

I don’t see too much of a grind. I get get 10K a day if I play three hours or so - 4K on average from the initial set of missions and the First Victory and playing each game mode bonus, and then the other missions just come naturally.

Sure, it’ll be longer if you play more casually, but then again, it’s a free-to-play game, you shouldn’t get everything for free. :stuck_out_tongue:
