Do you still play Dirty Bomb like good old days?

(Tanker_Ray) #1

I’ve been playing this game since 2015 beta.

Joined forums at 2015 April.

Just curious, do you still love DB, as well as trusting SD?

When I first got in to DB, this game was so damn fun to play, and I always spent +10 hours per day on DB.

Unfortunately, I’m on 4th right now.

What position are you at nowadays?

I do believe in SD, just give them some time. It is a small company y’know.

If you are bored/burned out, and trying out something else (like melee Sparks or even the so called Execution game mode) isn’t helping any more, you probably should take a break. You don’t have to play a game 24/7.

In fact, taking breaks every now and then makes the community more healthy as well (as long as you come back) - burned out players mostly just spam the chat/forum with their complainments.

The forums are a different thing, which I couldn’t live without:
the meme thread is pure golden (along with the “best of dirty bomb chat”)
I watch all of the dev videos. @stayfreshshoe is awesome!
And the fan creations section is full of gems too (especially @Shinywindow 's artwork thread, but the others are really good as well)

“with slight hope.”

Except that I wouldn’t say I have hope, especially not in the way they’re handling their game right now.

“SD will definitely do something.”

Questionable whether this “something” will be something that the game needs, rather than what SD thinks it needs ( HINT: it’s not new content ).

I just don’t have as much time as I used to. Also, I definitely avoid playing alone.

It was the best thing, for like the first few months. Finally finding a right multiplayer for me-self, due to how picky I am, when it comes to online fun.

However after unlocking all mercs and card variants for each, it’s gotten very stale, lack of balancing and content kills my incentive.

I got back into playing again recently after a long break. The game is fun to pub but I have 0 faith in SD which is why I stopped playing in the first place a couple years ago. Myself and many other competitive players told them what we wanted changed and why, and we got ignored despite the fact that back then the game was being marketed primarily as a competitive game. After years of them saying they want to listen to us and then not actually listening to us, most of the comp players quit when they got the chance with other games coming out.

Also for the people saying they need more time, it’s been what 5 years now? If they can’t figure this out in that duration of time I think it’s safe to say they don’t have any major changes planned.

I’m the opposite, just came back to the game after quiting for a while. Was kinda disappointing to see nothing new had come out, but I think they are working on the game more now since they are independent.

Best gameplay available for a FPS. Honestly can’t find anything better, and trust me, I’ve looked. Added onto that, it’s completely F2P which is something I can’t say about most games out (this includes your $60 console games that require you to pay more to access all of the content). The only downside regarding gameplay is the smoothness has dropped considerably compared to late 2015.

The only thing I regret about Dirty Bomb is not playing the Alpha when it was Extraction. I didn’t have a computer that could play it then, but from what I remember, I think I had a code to it. I remember visiting Nexon everyday to check for news about the game. Now all I want is Founders cards… :’(

Pretty sure SD have said the next Stopwatch map, Heist will be out this year. That along with Dockyard just around the corner, things are definitely looking up since being cured of cancer the split with Nexon.

@Cam2g Wait a sec, excuse me but are YOU the Cam I know? That’s impossible.

@KangaJoo This poll was never built to focus on tragic state of DB right now, but it just makes me so sad that I can’t agree no more on your comment. SD disappoints me as much as I loved Dirty Bomb and Thunder, more than anyone did.

@bushyg Hi bushy! Good to see you about being still… um… bit optimistic.

Hope was always been Dope to me.

I’d be “other”. There’s something about me that lets me grind away at games and still enjoy them just as much, but every now and then I have to take a break for a bit.
While I play about the same amount as I used to when I joined and still enjoy the game, my interest shifts in waves.

(Mc1412013) #12

Still playing as mutch as i used to though im getting bored of the curremt maps. Lets see what happens with dockyard and code name heist maps. Also would like to see something sililar to lawbreakers capture the battery game mode or something similar to cs go hostage rescue.

Plus when lawbreakers goes live 24/7 and quake chapions comes out of nda and us beta key holders can play more than 3 days with more players at a time i might not be on db as much.

(Mr-Penguin) #13

Got burnt out by the lack of actual new content. Waiting on Dockyard now…

(Terminal_6) #14

Still not tired of pubstomping

(AlphaUT) #15

Well, only play with friends. Stop soloing

(doxjq) #16

I still enjoy the game and have a little bit of hope left, but I’m not holding my breath. Personally I think it comes down to the community now instead of Splash Damage. Even if they pull their crap together, do everything right and make the game amazing, my biggest fear is that it’s just too late. Too many players have come and gone, and the game has kind of a bad name when it comes to development, so many have sworn they will never return regardless of what happens.

(Melinder) #17

Yes, I am the Cam you know, the one who hasn’t played in nearly 2 months (and also the one you want to fight irl).

Until D9D or VICE get’s unbanned (for updating GPU driver or running latencymon/resmon), I’m under a technical ban and cannot play the usual hours I used to play. It’ll be good if my playtime per day would exceed 1 hour, but because we got very few leads that led to the ban on VICE and D9D, the ban applies to me as well because we’re all using the same PC, and using nearly similar configurations while benchmarking, profiling and monitoring CPU/GPU/Network performance. We found a few things of interest here and there and SD’s monitoring of cheat detection, but the main culprit really is now focusing on EAC and their scanning/pattern matching behaviour.

We found culpable things about DB + EAC recently and it’s just not worth pursuing any further because the end result is will neither justify the effort to do it nor will it make a better product. I got a lot of friends who came on board back in 2015 and they burned out real fast due to various reasons… some come back to check on things, some just… oh well… GG

(Sorotia) #19

Grinding out the trinkets is the most time I’ve spent in the game in a while…no new mercs or maps…just getting bored of the same old after a year and a half.

(Dawnlazy) #20

I had quit playing around the end of the year, came back for ranked S2 and more DBN cups. After finishing my ranked grind I haven’t played much, having to deal with the game freezing randomly at times is just too irritating.
