Do you like heartbeat sensor nades

As there was only a thread on how they work,which led into a discussion,whether those nades actually should be in the game, or what they should work like, I openened a new thread with a great poll.

I voted for Add alert for scanned players and only display players on Minimap For me showing the health bar+class thru walls etc is just too much info. Showing the enemy that he is now visual on the radar/minimap is enough.

Third option of course for pub and remove them entirely for comp, like discussed in the other thread.

Only minimap makes them too weak. Even with a clear minimap. The scanned players need to get a warning and preferably a warning just before they’re about to be scanned. That way it’s up to them whether or not they want to thread into a scanning zone. This also will turn the heartbeat sensor in a psychological weapon which makes the game more tactical in nature.

It makes me wonder when are the healthbars on screen triggered? They don’t show up automatically, but…the minimap always show enemy players…? The healthbars only show up when spotted by teammates, while a scanner is up?

Add alert for scanned players and only display players on Minimap, but minimap must be shaped little bit, atm very inaccurate.

How does reducing them to flimsy minimap signals compare to the ability to heal and revive team-mates, call down airstrikes or have a big ****ing gun to mow people down with? Are we just okay with one class being gimped beyond recognition and only picked up whenever someone likes to be cool with a sniper?

Who says it has to be like this? The Sniper has the ability to 1-shot an enemy. Here is your special ability. I just dont like the thought of being seen through a wall when doing sneaky stuff or just defending an area.

If there is such a powerful scan as it is now, there should at least be a counterpart like a jammer, which clan block scanning( deployed by whatever class )
Or we reduce the power of those heartbeat scanners.

I still want EMP grenades to replace the normal grenade, and also wouldn’t mind something to replace heartbeat nades; plus an extra ability too if necessary.

EMPs are quite a nice idea, but they are only really good for EV maps, as there are not plently turrets and vehicles like in ETQW.

So maybe the Sniper needs a more multi-functional nade.
I am not a big supporter of flashbangs in this game, but maybe EMPs could have a flash or something. ( Its not the best idea, i know)
But EMPs would really help stop an EV especially when your teams’ FOPs is waiting for his arty or airstrike to be ready.
Simple EMPs as seen in ETQW wouldnt be versatile enough,though.

I was thinking of something along the lines of a sensor mine that when triggered causes a concussion type effect and a quick sensor sweep of that location. This could be placed in flanking areas or just important defensive entrances providing that moment of very important info for the team or just the sniper himself. It could also be used to make sniping a single target exiting a doorway or corner more effective. Just an idea.

wouldn’t that reward camping a little too much?
You can just place this thing to give yourself backup and spec into the other direction to snipe some players.

too much. I didnt like this feature of the third eye cam. It was real fun to throw this thing at vehicles and blow it up, but the “spy”-function was quite pointless. I doubt we need this.

How is that different from simply giving a soldier specialisation a sniper rifle?

A class needs to be more than it’s gun and DB needs to be about more than just shooting. And yes that also means that the soldier needs to be looked at.

Some true words.
the gun is not ment to be the only special ability the sniper should have. But the hearbeat sensor is not the feature i would like to see. And i would personally rather see a sniper rifle with only his gun, than with what heartbeat sensors work right now. Maybe I did not clearly say that above.

I would rather want to see an EMP nade ( should have an additional function as its rather uselss on non-EV stages), but displaying players on radar is something comp players wont like. As we want the same game on public like in comp, heartbeat nades are a bad thing per se.

Its a bad thing as it is right now. When the radar gets limited to the minimap, its fine.
Why not give the covie a flashbang/emp nade which flashes enemies and friends and if thrown at the EV/or the EV is in the range it could disable the EV for some seconds. But I think the soldier has already this kind of nade (flashbang)
