Do Weapon Stats even matter?

(Sabiancym) #1

I’m extremely confused about the guns in this game. When I first launched it and was looking through the weapons, I thought it was pretty ridiculous that out of the 15 guns available, 3-4 of them had way higher stats than the rest. So obviously I picked those.

Yet when I’m in game, I’ll unload and entire clip into someone and not kill them. They shoot me twice and I’m dead.

What am I missing? And no, I’m not missing.

Wow, nothing? Awesome community…

I had the same impression as you had…
My oh my. What was supposed to be the most anticipated game of the year and it’s…
I can’t even find the word…
Guns are bad. But now look at grenades. What’s the point of having less-than-lethal grenades??? Have the people at SD been playing anything during the past few years???
Even Homefront, that disgraceful shame of a game had less issues!

(Protector) #4

I have also noticed this, sometimes using the Kross smg I need something silly like 40 rounds to put someone down and then I come up against someone who drops me near instantly with what seems like a few bullets using the same weapon… Maybe people are rediculously good at going for the head I don’t know…

(StarkRavinMad) #5

Headshots matter. If you’re hitting the guy in the legs and torso and he’s hitting you in the head he’s going to win pretty much regardless of weapons. Plus add in body types, armor buffs, weapons buffs, and health buffs and there’s a lot that can make a player lethal.

(hailey) #6

gun damage isnt based on per shot but how much it does a certain amount of time so its really misleading

(nocaffeine) #7
  1. Gun damage decreases with distance – headshots do the most damage
  2. Kevlar plating can make people more resistant to damage
  3. The seemingly subtle stat differences between guns actually have huge effects on how the guns handle, reload, equip, aim, recoil, etc. – find the ones you like
  4. I don’t have any problem with how grenades behave in this game, in fact, I love it

(Zarlor) #8

The weapon stats matter. Usually you have a tradeoff where an increase in one area means a decrease in the other.

(Kill5Joy) #9

oh oops I’m sorry were you under the impression that world revolved around you and that should cater to your every beck and whim? The guns are fine,if you use any of the AR’s, aside from the Famas copy, can drop 2 to 3 people a clip. If you can’t get a kill with any of the weapons it’s your falt.

I agree, seems many dont take in the fact that some players are buffed up and they arent at all. I am on ps3 and even though i am offline only i can take down 3-4 guys a clip if you use the gun right and are facing non buffed up enemies. other times it takes just as much for 1-2 guys cause they are buffed up and i am not. also going for vital areas takes more damage from them.

And with the grenades i love them, you can kill with them but i find it more satisfying to take down a whole group and unload a clip to finish them off on the ground before they get up. Overall i find most complaints other then lag tend to be more becuase people didnt understand they whole concept and idea of the game, i feel it delivers on most it promised. While i do agree with many gripes they arent gamebreakers and more personal preference.
Splash Damage team isnt stupid, they knew what they were doing and i feel so far only minor gameplay changes are needed along with fixing the lag for online cause once PSN is up I dont want it ruining what so far has been a great experiance.

So others can kill YOU quickly but you can’t kill them quickly yet it’s the game’s fault. K.

don’t mean to sound like a douche bag, but come on bro…

This right here. I feel like Splash Damage was trying to avoid situations where one gun is hands down the best gun and theres no reason to use any of the others for that group. For example, the Bulpdaun and the CARB-9 are both great SMGs. The carb-9 has more damage and I believe a larger clip, but I like the handling on the Bulp better so I use that.

And agreed that grenades are fine. If someone is standing directly on the grenade, not only will they be knocked down and disoriented, but now they’re a very easy target and have practically no health.

(SockDog) #13

From my experience if you clamp down on the trigger you will lose more clips than score kills.

Tips:

  1. Grow balls
  2. Engage balls in controlled burst of accurate fire
  3. Aim bursts (not balls) at the enemy’s head
  4. Revel in victory and/or T-Bag enemies

I think the reason grenades aren’t insta-kill is BECAUSE splash damage has played fps games over the last few years.

I’ve got brink waiting for me at home when I finish work and I’m overjoyed about not having to deal with rubbish grenade spam.

(Hubschrauber) #15

c’mon now. He’s just frustrated. We all can get that way at times. I’m sure that he, like me, has just had a lot of bad forum experiences and figured he could expect that here.

but about the guns, the stats can be misleading sometimes. Any one of the guns can be efficient with the right aim. Some have terrible recoil/bullet spread and or overall accuracy at different distances, but keep this in mind.

A gun with high bullet spread, like the tampa SMG, can be pretty awesome at close range, and a gun with little bullet spread and good accuracy like the Kross SMG isn’t as powerful. Compensation here and there, it’s how it works.

Just keep at it and figure out what works best for you. The Gerund AR and the CARB-9 SMG are decent guns. Keep your eye on the Rockstedi AR too. I really like that thing for long range firefights.

(Skylight) #16

guys, the weapon stats ingame are buged

according to the white stat bars the euston would be completely overpowered and the shotguns would do less damage than an assault rifle

compare it here and you will see, that the white bars shown ingame are broken:

(Skylight) #17

Nobody else annoyed by this?

(Captain Judaism) #18

Not really. I tend to ignore stats of any sort when it comes to weapons and find guns that I find work best for my playstyle and use those. I find that, regardless of stats, I do my best with the Rokstedi so I use that. I find that despite stats I do best with the Tampa SMG, so I use that. I find that besides stats I rock the EZ-Nade launcher, but that’s because I like spam.

Finding a gun you enjoy and can work with is more important that weapon stats in games like this.

(NeoRussia) #19

the stats are roughly correct but they do not display damage over what range plus to what body part. From testing most of the assault rifles seem to act differently enough, it’s the SMGs which all feel the same. I also have no problem killing enemies with nades.

Grenades are the way they are for a /very/ good reason. They used to incapacitate/stun, not kill. I’m absolutely ecstatic that I can play a FPS that has grenades where 50% of the deaths aren’t from random nade spam.

The guns are /amazing/. The differences can be subtle, but each gun has a /very/ distinct feel to it. If I were you I’d ignore the stats and try each one until you find one that sits right in your hands.

There are plenty of devs that cater for your lack of imagination; I doubt either of us is going to miss the other.
