Do we really need aimpunch?

(watsyurdeal) #201

If aimpunch affected, well, aiming, then maybe, but it shouldn’t affect hipfire, that’s pretty much the game’s bread and butter, and the only one it really does help on countering or dealing with from the victim’s side, is Snipers like Vasilli.

other word for suppression

(Nail) #203

it’s actually called view kick, as that’s what it does

(Ghosthree3) #204

If it was slower, like it was before, it would actually be possible to compensate a little for it and constantly adjust your aim to keep hitting heads. As it is now though, it’s too sharp and fast to adjust for shit.

Confirm whether or not it only kicks your view or bullets go where your xh gets bounced. I think it’s the latter.

(tinyHouse) #205

Aim-punch is bad even if its just a little. It should be totally gone. I’d rather they get rid of aim-punch completely and make it take longer to kill people to compensate vs Increasing aimpunch and decreasing the time it takes to kill and turn this game into another call of duty.

(tinyHouse) #206

I don’t think tf2 even has any aimpunch or viewkick. Can anyone confirm?

still waiting for you to show me a video proving it’s viewkick and not aimpunch

(watsyurdeal) #208

Actually it does, try using the Ambassador as Spy, when you take damage your crosshair goes up a bit. It’s more noticeable when dealing with SMGs, Pistols, Syringe Guns, Minigun, and of course…when you’re burning.

That’s not aim punch, that’s recoil. aim punch happens when you get hit, not when you take a shot.

(watsyurdeal) #210

I just edited it as you posted, read it again

(bumbertyr) #211

aim punch isn’t even effective in the first place, seems pointless to remove it.

(Keldrath) #212

Alright then.

(Kroad) #213

???
it doesnt work, so leave it in the game

maybe you don’t notice it (says more about your skill level than aimpunch) but if something doesnt work then may as well remove it when it annoys 85% of the playerbase

no because while it isn’t effective to mess up your accuracy it does make sure that you know you’ve been hit.

Now I’m not sure which side I should go to. Ahhh… Yes, aimpunch is a hard thing to go through, especially when everyone wants to have fun. But, remember that dying is quick and when you respawn aimpunch will reset. Also, from all my time playing this game I barely notice it, but only when I get hit with grenades and such. But since aimpunch is very tiny, and I don’t notice it often (maybe because I don’t know what it is until now), then maybe it has to go. BUT, if players doesn’t understand the term, they probs don’t even care. Well, I still don’t understand the term a bit, so i’m going to research, and i’ll be back. And play a bit to understand what you guys are going through.

EDIT: Now I know what aimpunch is. I originally thought that it just shakes your screen, instead of messing up your accuracy. Ok, Aimpunch does NOT belong to a game like Dirty Bomb, which is true. Some players might disagree, but it’s true. Seriously, Dirty Bomb is a team-objective based game, not an elimination game. BUT, the new game mode that’s coming out features a kill-all and win game, which is exactly like elimination, so that implies that aimpunch belongs there. But the game-modes we have now shall not have aimpunch, because it is skill-based.

Btw how do you change your vote?

(Ghosthree3) #216

You know what else makes sure you know you’ve been hit? The big red hit markers that appear.

(Szakalot) #217

@Nail Aimpunch in ET was purely visual. You’d get a hit with a huge view kick, but it didn’t affect where your bullets go. In DB your view gets kicked up, but so does your aim.

This is a big difference.

And shorter viewkick isn’t necessarily better, like people said, very fast view-twitch can be more disorienting; which is why people started to complain about it now, and not before (in these numbers)
