Do Splash Damage care about the reputation?

Well, it’s grateful to see a free game which offers rich contents and above-the-average quality. However, though it’s free… it doesn’t mean that ET shall be cast behind after its official release. Obvious programming flaws (server overflow crashes), some minor bugs (dual-pistol selection, respawn point migration… etc), they need a instant patch to fix.

Splash Damage has announced about a “upcoming” patch at 3rd June, and it isn’t upcoming anymore but “severely delayed” after 2 weeks waiting. The most frustrating thing that I see at this forum is, Splash Damage even don’t react to any questioning or challenging.

If it is delayed, please let us know.
If it is cancelled, please let us know as well.
And the worst possibility: if Splash Damage is now working on their new project and have no spare time to patch ET, please let us know, so that we won’t have to expect any good technical support from you in the future.

em, i dont know what forum your browsing mate, but all SD peeps are regularly trawling this board and replying to things with RELEVANCE. Search the board and u will realise there have been many posts like yours, and have been answered.

>If it is delayed, please let us know.
Something cannot be delayed when a release date was not set.

>If it is cancelled, please let us know as well.
If it was cancelled i very much doubt they would stop tesing the current version of the patch on several public servers.

I know for a fact these guys work extremely long hours that you probably would not believe, and have had to extend these to fixing et. I doubt you would get any such service from other companies that require technical support.

As you have no idea how things are run, i would advise you to check up on things. Even if they had a working patch currently (which they probably do no doubt) they cannot do anything with it until they get the go ahead from activision.

So i would suggest you shut up and wait, like everyone else here, as posting your extremely thought out rants will not get you anywhere.

(if you got the sarcasim in the last line, you win a cookie  )

This is what Locki said in a previous topic that was very similar to yours

After we put up that news post, Djbob (one of our programmers) having worked closely with id Software and Activision was able to put a test patch together. Since then our programming team have been working closely with some volunteer server administrators of big servers who have been helping track down the cause of a number of server crashes. We get reports from them every day and they have really helped a lot.

All of the issues aren’t resolved yet, but we are making good progress and we want to make sure this patch is truly stable before it’s released publicly.

Thanks for your patience, and I apologise for the inconvenience the crashes are causing in the interim.

Paul/Locki.

Plz try to look through the back topics to make sure u dont bring up old topics, like a lot of other ppl have.

We’re still working on getting the server side patch perfect - there are public servers running it if you want to help test, although I don’t have a list to hand.

If you ever need to look up old topics or information, there’s always the search function

Have to stand up for SD peeps here- Nearly all of my posts have had in-depth and lengthy replies from the staff.

The patch - though needed is not dire - ve had 1 server crash in 2 weeks - thats not bad -

And trust me this service is in no way as bad as that of EA and CnC generals - if u wanna see ppl pissed off - u browse their forums.
