Dlc

Listen to that man!

WOW! This was epic win  Good luck if you want to make a map with highers standards than the stock ones, especially with ā€œnewā€ shiny engine, I dont say its impossible, but the number of crappy maps VS good ones is simply impressive…

This was discussed before, but as said I pretty much doubt sony / MS would let free stuffs happening on their machines, poor consolers!

Peace

For what it seems, I expect building maps for Brink, balancing it for all body types and classes, quite difficult. I hope we will have tools to try it, but I think SD will be the more fit (obviously) to create new maps… and sell them as DLC. I don’t think the community will be able to make lots of maps like for W:ET, and keep the game alive for this long.

I won’t ever buy new costumes, but new maps, if they look rad I don’t see why I shouldn’t fell for it.
But I’d obviously prefer getting it for free

I do think the custom community will be strong with the absence of ranked VS unranked server, I’ll allways support custom instead of DLC anyway  But yeah I think it’ll be quite difficult to map for Brink.

Peace

Were still not 100% sure that the DLC will cost money. It doesn’t necessarily have to, at least not on PC. It would be one more reason why a person would play the game on PC.

DLC does stand for Downloadable Content, not Purchasable Content…

Just do what the rest do and post a separate reply for everything ¬_¬

My main gripe is the price, IW released their map pack for Ā£10.99/$15 and that is INSANELY overpriced… but people still paid for it. Two map packs for 1 game with the combined cost the same price as a full game is ridiculous… but people still paid. Then others released theirs for that price (if they can do it we can do it?), and suddenly it’s ok to overcharge for that stuff. The console crowd are very quick to accept being dicked over, and this is spreading to the PC.

[i]Dear console owners,

please stop bending over, it’s for your own good!
Let me make sure I’m clear on this before I say anything; DLC (Download-content) and PC (Windows Computers) dont go well together?.. Every game I have ever played for the PC and purchased DLC for worked perfectly and I never regretted getting it. If anything, PC+DLC works best of all if it comes from steam, as long as i have my steam account, I can go to any computer and BAM! I have accesses to anything I have ever bought.

Fallout 3
Fallout new Vegas
Magicka
TF2 (free updates technically DLC)
Borderlands
Magic The Gathering: Duels of the Planes-walkers
Batman Arkham Asylum
All had perfectly fine implemented DLC.

Maybe I am missing something? Maybe I don’t know what I’m talking about. Maybe the DLC you all have in mind isn’t manged by the Modern Steam Cloud.
Brink Has plenty of room for future DLC, as long as it’s priced fairly, and you enjoy the game, I don’t see any reason to shut the door on having DLC in the future.
You are obviously 13 yo…This DLC BS started on consoles (oh god how i hate micro$oft) and is now spreading on PC…it’s a disease and should be treated…

Mad props to VALVe for staying loyal to the old system (SDK, regular updates)…

I don’t really have experience with bethesda or splash, but i got this game free so no loss for me :stroggbanana:

As a console owner I will admit to just accepting the price and taking it like a champ. However on the computer I REFUSE to purchase DLC for some reason.

If it is good, I will buy it. Simple as that. Like the Borderlands DLC, which was great (sans Mad Moxie), and not like the CoD map packs, which, from what I’ve seen and heard, cost way too much for such a small amount of sub-par content.

(nincek) #29

A bit offtopic, but if you think that Mad Moxxi is bad, I disagree. It’s the longest and hardest of them all, and my personal favorite.

(Herandar) #30

I really wish someone had told me not to buy Moxxi. It’s a brutal relentless grind for almost no reward, whatsoever. I have a couple of friends and we are completing the arenas, but after two and a half hours minimum for beating each of the larger arenas, we need to take a month or two off before we attempt the next one.

For eight hours or so of ā€œgameplayā€ you get zero XP, perhaps a handful of okay weapons, and acheivement points, which are meaningless. And you may unlock some challenges, if you haven’t completed them before.

Most people I have spoken with regarding Borderlands DLC agree that Moxxi is by far the weakest.

(Mad Hatter) #31

I liked it well enough, as I like pretty much all horde mode type…modes, but I found the tournaments far too long and tedious. And yeah, the rewards weren’t very good either. I would have greatly preferred it if they had made it more like the few arena challenges you can do in the main story.

I’d say Knoxx was the best though, easily.

But anyway this is SD and Bethesda we’re talking about here. If they release some DLC I’ll bet it will be quality stuff, yo.

(Auzner) #32

I usually buy a game’s collector’s edition. If there are DLCs I usually pistachio grape pie.

Everywhere I look I see 1980’s graphic design returning. Keep it up, haha.

(Baumbo) #33

The DLC option is probably for the codes with the pre-orders. On xbox, the pre-order equipment will be accessed when you use the code that comes on a little card inside the game’s case. That is how it worked for the Recon helmet in Halo:Reach and the starter packs on Fallout: New Vegas. Being as Bethesda is the publisher, thats how it will likely go down.

(.TheTank.) #34

… no on xbox you enter the code through the guide menu and download it straight away not through the game itself so the DLC tab on the menu is not for that

(Herandar) #35

You can access the Guide code entry/downloads page while in-game by selecting DLC. How it works in Borderlands and the last two Assassin’s Creed games.

(Baumbo) #36

The pre-order gear is DLC. So they have a button. For DLC. Which is the pre-order gear. Not saying they won’t release maps… But the button doesn’t mean anything yet.

(.TheTank.) #37

The screenshot was taken on ps3 anyways ¬_¬

(Baumbo) #38

If they are developing cross console, they want the user interface to look the same on all consoles. So nobody gets confused when playing on another system.

…But I have all this money in my pocket…it’s not gonna spend itself. Also, If the company is a good one and they put out good content, I don’t mind shelling out a few more bucks. I would donate money to Gearbox for giving me such a great product and DLC. Unfortunately, I wouldn’t be able to deduct that from my taxes so I just send them love via esp…every day.
