Dlc

(.TheTank.) #1

Im supprised no-one has noticed that in the 8 min gameplay if this has been posted before i apologise
Im glad they are basically confirming DLC as if/when the DLC comes out I WILL GET IT IMMEDIATELY!!

What are your thoughts?

(Nex) #2

PC and DLC doesnt go well together…that said, i won’t buy any dlc for Brink or any other game…EVER

(xTriXxy) #3

same here.

If they will release sdk with the game in some form, then dlc seems pointless…
If they will not release sdk, the game will be short lived, imo

I will never buy dlc regardless

(.TheTank.) #5

Im not a PC gamer (im ps3/360) but from what i’ve gathered SDK is map editing/ creating softare for the game or gametype creation im not quite sure someone correct me if im wrong. but i think they will release an SDK for PC and have the DLC console specific as the PC gamers could make better maps than their level designers so they wouldnt sell any copies as you guys said but since there is no way to do those things on console (apart from forge on halo but that is pretty basic.) then they will be forced the force feed us new maps.

(A.i) #6

They could go further and select the best fan created content and make it a free dlc for consoles

(Diablo85) #7

I don’t like paying for stuff that we used to get for free, so no I won’t pay for DLC. Especially not if they wont release a SDK because they want to force DLC down our throats.

First off, nice find.

Second, I’m not a fan of DLCs myself, and never bought one except the Borderlands DLC pack. This game has a VERY big potential to make very good DLCs, because the character customization factor is huge, and therefore has a chance to make a very big DLC. This also makes a problem for itself, because the new items/features could be easily released in a patch (TF2), so not many people would buy it. If there way, on the other hand, a DLC with whole new content (Borderlands), that wouldn’t be suited for a patch, it would be worth giving 10€ for it, if it had potential as it could have.

Let me make sure I’m clear on this before I say anything; DLC (Download-content) and PC (Windows Computers) dont go well together?.. Every game I have ever played for the PC and purchased DLC for worked perfectly and I never regretted getting it. If anything, PC+DLC works best of all if it comes from steam, as long as i have my steam account, I can go to any computer and BAM! I have accesses to anything I have ever bought.

Fallout 3
Fallout new Vegas
Magicka
TF2 (free updates technically DLC)
Borderlands
Magic The Gathering: Duels of the Planes-walkers
Batman Arkham Asylum
All had perfectly fine implemented DLC.

Maybe I am missing something? Maybe I don’t know what I’m talking about. Maybe the DLC you all have in mind isn’t manged by the Modern Steam Cloud.
Brink Has plenty of room for future DLC, as long as it’s priced fairly, and you enjoy the game, I don’t see any reason to shut the door on having DLC in the future.

 Great Idea!! +rep for youuu

(A.i) #11

Thanks

Cosmetic and map dlc could be easily made with sdk if there will be one, so the only one that would be really worth the money is some new gametype/mode, imo

(.TheTank.) #12

You should be able to make cosmetics with an SDK on your computer and upload them to a certain section of the brink website while signed in which would be linked to your PSN/ Xbox live account.(kinda the way the theatre rendering thing is on black ops) you should then be able to upload it and be able to use them on your console account.

But… then every body would be making trousers that having giant throbbing erections ripping and tearing through the fabric. it would be funny though :stuck_out_tongue:

(Kinjal) #13

Hm…. So you figured that there will be a DLC after you seen a tab in the menu. Not after Bethesda was announced as publisher of Brink, not after Fallout 3, Black ops, MW2, New Vegas, bulletstorm and etc. releases, not after “unique” pre-order packs with stuff that will be not available after release, but now after you seen a picture, yea that’s make sense.

(.TheTank.) #14

…Not after i realise what your trying to say. i dont get you  get to the point:rolleyes:

(Seyu) #15

I doubt Microsoft/Sony would be happy about losing their cut from paid DLC.

(1234567) #16

Maybe they’ll put up a new map from time to time.

(Striker92) #17

im still holding out for some new ETQW maps…

(crazyfoolish) #18

I believe that Valve attempted to do this with Xbox 360 tf2 (Orange Box). I think that Microsoft wouldn’t let them release free content. I think only free patches are allowed on Xbox live. Note that i have no sources this is just afaik.

(DarkangelUK) #19

Yes DLC was already discussed, as most things have been (goold ole searchy searcherson can confirm).

With consoles it seems to be a given, with PC I would hope that the SDK is released to allow for user created content, but still have official DLC released so gamers can choose to buy it or not.

My basic view. DLC is way too overpriced for what you get.

(Mustkunstn1k) #20

Nothing new here.

What. That wouldn’t even work (from a gameplay point).
