DLC saturday the 30th? Did Splash Damage purposely lie?!

(Shinigami) #1

So, in this link:
http://www.xbox360achievements.org/news-2203-Game-Updated--Brink.html#1

a staff members states that the DLC is coming out on July the 30th, and that as odd as it seems, he confirmed it with several people. Now everyone who has been keeping up with the forums knows that MTV had already posted an article saying that this would be the release date. This makes me wonder, was MTV right all along? Did SD know that this would be the true release date but purposely lie to us for maybe marketing reasons?

And honestly, if this thread gets locked, I will have my answer.

The really important part is that who gives a hoot.

Well, I don’t really know how to respond to this one. you have a point and you don’t SD never really said anything at all so to say they lied is just wrong. but if they did know anything at all they should have told us I do agree with you on that.

I’m actually tiered of getting all my valued info from other sites WAAAAAAY before it ever ends up here. Y’know on the official site?

(thesuzukimethod) #4

s/he is staff on an xbox achievements forum, afa i can tell. the link s/he cites doesnt confirm the date. grain of salt.

(BiigDaddyDellta) #5

Seems like the only publicity this game is getting is the bad kind, lies and fakes and dumbness all around. Poor new IP.

(Shinigami) #6

im pretty sure plenty of people, including myself, do care. I have been waiting patiently on this DLC, and the idea that a company is manipulating/lying to its customers does bug me. it wouldnt so much from big companies like bethesda, activision, EA, because i already have such a low opinion about them. but from a small group like SD then yeah it bothers me, mostly because i was convinced that they trully cared about their customers/gamers.

Actually, someone had made a thread about the link with the MTV article. And a SD employee said (paraphrased) : “if its wasnt from here of bethesda then its not legit” so yeah, that constitutes as lying.

(BiigDaddyDellta) #8

hey, I remember that. hmmm

(thesuzukimethod) #9

be careful with your paraphrasing.

(Shinigami) #10

LOL my paraphrasing wasnt that off. but thank you for digging that up for me. i always have trouble finding things like those.

(thesuzukimethod) #11

np - i live to create search strings.

re: paraphrasing - it was close, but saying it’s not official is not a denial. i still maintain that if mtv and a xbox achievements forum get it right, it’s a guess, not a scoop.

(Lozmuir) #12

SD will probably purposely not release on the 30th just so MTV aren’t right.

(BiigDaddyDellta) #13

now you’re just thinking like a woman.

(Salteh) #14

Like jRAD said; If you haven’t seen it here or on Bethblog it’s not official.
MTV are just guessing.

(SinDonor) #15

They’re pretty close with their guess, eh? I wonder if they pick lottery numbers as well.

Lol, we’re all guessing dude.

(Terminator514) #17

MTV airs Jersey Shore, anything they say is neither reliable or reputable.

Remember this when it comes to communications:
SD and Bethesda have recently joined forces and are probably still “feeling each other out”. I’m betting Bethesda is keeping an eye on the communications for now and SD are being cautious not to upset their new overlords cough I mean publishers.
Once they’ve worked together for a while I’m sure SD will be given more slack to communicate with the community in their more usual style. But first they need to gain Bethesda’s trust.
Also: who says that they’re lying. They’ve said their waiting on MS to cert it. Perhaps there have been a few bugs and resubmissions but until MS say OK they can’t give a definite date. As soon as Bethesda have a definite release date I bet they’ll go into advertising hyperdrive again.
They want a date and won’t hide it when they’ve got it.

Speaking of Overlords, for whomever played a Starcraft 2 game, Bethesda is the overlord spewing creep on the ground so the SD zerglings can operate properly :stuck_out_tongue:

And yes, some bugs did pop up during certification. It might be a good thing, this delay. It’s less likely it’ll be full of bugs that even Bethesda’s own The Elders Scrolls series can be proud of

Well, the reason i feel ive been lied to, assuming of course the DLC comes out the 30th, is because i would feel like they knew that date all along. In my perspective the person with the MTV article did not guess and instead found out about that information through some type of leak. And if they knew the date, and purpose announced it for ‘late june’, then ‘early july’ then they lied because intentionally said dates that they knew would not be the release date. Denying the 30th release date to me would also be lying, but like suzuki said some might not consider ‘not official’ as an actual denial.

I will reiterate, this is all assuming the DLC does indeed release the 30th, and SD knew this. So this is all speculation for now and probably forever cause who the hell knows what is going on at bethesda and SD (ahem the MTV people  )

edit: i noticed someone changed the title of my thread lol. its all a conspiracy i tell ya
