official = you hear it from SD, by definition, a rumor from MtV is not official, even if the date is right.
DLC saturday the 30th? Did Splash Damage purposely lie?!
Officially all SD has said is, “june… no wait july! Uuuuum … :crickets in the european night:”
Yeah, when im at work! On a Saturday? Im still confused and officially hate the DLC for confusing me.
Well, the reason i feel ive been lied to, assuming of course the DLC comes out the 30th, is because i would feel like they knew that date all along. In my perspective the person with the MTV article did not guess and instead found out about that information through some type of leak. And if they knew the date, and purpose announced it for ‘late june’, then ‘early july’ then they lied because intentionally said dates that they knew would not be the release date. Denying the 30th release date to me would also be lying, but like suzuki said some might not consider ‘not official’ as an actual denial.
I will reiterate, this is all assuming the DLC does indeed release the 30th, and SD knew this. So this is all speculation for now and probably forever cause who the hell knows what is going on at bethesda and SD (ahem the MTV people
)
edit: i noticed someone changed the title of my thread lol. its all a conspiracy i tell ya
I very much doubt they knew the 30th of July as a date back before announcing the first DLC. It is the worst marketing ploy in the world to hype something up for June and then leave everyone hanging for a couple of months. If that was the marketing plan then they need to take the guy handling marketing to the police to report that someone has stolen his brain.
Plus: the 30th? a Saturday release? That’s a super strange day to release on. Also: if it were that close wouldn’t they be hyping us up about it?
And if it does come out on the 30th that doesn’t mean that they told MTV anything. It could be pure coincidence. But I doubt it’ll release by the 30th anyway.
I wouldn’t say SD have been lying to us at all. That doesn’t mean I agree with the dead air treatment either. I think a more open communication policy should be put into place. The community doesn’t care if it’ll take a bit longer as long as we know what’s going on. Silence leads to conspiracy and resentment.
Imagine SD + Bethesda is a person and the community their hot date. SD buy the community a hot dinner (Brink) and then ask “Would you like a surprise?” and they naturally say “yes!”
“OK” they whisper to the community “Get in the car”.
So SD is in the car with the community driving. This can go one of 2 ways:
-
the community asks “what’s the surprise?”, “how long until we get there?”, “why won’t you talk to me?”, “why are we driving into the woods?”, “why won’t you say something?”. This scenario ends with a log cabin, lots of blood and screaming and crying, perhaps a couple of detectives and a lengthy jail sentence.
-
the community asks “how long are we going to be driving for?” and SD resonds “a couple of hours. It’ll be worth it when we get there.” and then an hour later SD says “damn. We took a wrong turn and it’s going to take an extra 45 minutes to backtrack now” and the community says “that’s ok. We’ve got all night.”. Later there’s a blowout and SD pull the car over and say “ooh. This is going to take 30 minutes to change the tyre.” but the community is smitten and responds “you saved us!”. This scenario ends with sweet sweet love on the beach.
You see the difference communication can make? We want sweet sweet beach love SD, not serial killer, stalky log cabins!
Wow… I hope paul wedgewood himself sees that post and remember the interview he did in the cabin on the mountain, and has nightmares about you being the guy skiing down it for some “sweet sweet love making.” Lol maybe that would put some hop in this DLC’s step haha.
Could be they jumped the gun on the initial release date and have since made major changes to the DLC package in terms of tweaks based on user feedback and philosophical discussion. Like 5 different avenues out of Spawn instead of two, or something to that effect that took major Map redesign. Who knows? Something major is at work at this point in my estimation. Not trying to make excuses. Just discussing reasons for the delay. Or Bots on your team are now gonna be crack commando Objective completers.
Regardless their site does state that the dlc was suppose to be release early july. July 30 is far from early. I just want a lobby so I can start finding actual people to play with instead of playing one on one matches or only cpu matches. Unless im the only person who still has it on ps3.
Biig. Did you see my game mode idea? [thread=29936]Deadpool[/thread].
Something to consider. I’d like to see some additional modes that “fit” into the framework of Brink while maintaining a unique angle compared to other FPS games. Maybe that’s something they are also testing in-conjunction with the DLC? Other modes.
Edit: Yeah. Perhaps they are seriously trying to add lobbies with the DLC?

LMFAO at this post!! there is so much wrong in there but it seriously made me crack up
lol i have known it is going to hit the 30th its a fact live with it. they just wanted to gain people by continously saying OH look itll come out this month… no wait this month early… no wait no word at all. kinda old but those of us that know…
MTV has a damn psychic
Just give up. Not including today, we have three days left in the month. They said there will be a window of time inbetween the announcement and the actual release. They would have had to announce it today or yesterday for them to reach that 30th date. Not happening, August.
And to address the OP’s statement of lying… they withheld the truth, which is the same as lying. SD are going to have to deliver on some big promises and do ALOT of sweet talking to convince their estranged community to actually pay for any future DLC. Resentment rides high.
sigh
unfortunately…i agree with you. I just love how the first announce one date, miss it, announce the second, miss it, and then just keep quiet like nothing happened. seriously, we should get the second DLC free as an apology for the first DLC!!

Yes, I’ve said that as well. I think they need to scrap the two week window and just make it free forever… or make it free for as long as the DLC was late which would be three months.
Lmfao.
Worthy of a siggy quote I reckon.
Glad to be of service.
