DLC Releases this week (Update: not true)

(R_Shackelford) #41

Personally, I don’t think it’s coming out this week, and the store is supposedly going to be back up this weekend or next Tuesday.

If they really wanted to get it out, though, they could make it a patch, since you can still download patches (I was even able to download the Day 1 1.01 patch before the basic PSN came back online).

A bethesda community manager over on brinkthegame.com said that they must have mixed up the dates for the statistics site and the DLC, so the DLC is not coming this week apparently.

Darn. I was going to say, such short notice of DLC release seemed a bit odd. I’d figure the DLC would be rather hyped up before hand.

I think they’ll pack alot of bugfixes into this free update.
(Stuff they couldn’t do on the 360 because patchsize is usually limited to 4MB.)

Call me a pessimist but thats IMHO the reason why we are getting free DLC.

I honestly would love to know why Bethesda has been so tight lipped about any info regarding Brink during it’s entire development time. Every scrap of info has been held prisoner till the last possible moment, and SD has had such a tight leash put on them by Beth that they’re practically choking. Something has never sat right with me with this, and my opinion of Bethesda has dropped substantially because of it.
I’m preferring the small and frequent approach rather than the large and sparse approach they had with updates in ET:QW. I suspect there will be some small fixes to coincide with the DLC.
The thing is with the DLC you will see people getting back that already dumped the game because of the bugs. When they realise the bugs are still there they don’t bother with the game and leave again.

DLC is much more advertised than simple patches and that’s why the game should be in a proper state before people get attracted with additional content. DLC makes frontpage news, small patches don’t.

I too wonder why Bethesda has had such a tight leash on Splash :l

It’s a shame too because I’d love to not buy a game published by them but I like SD’s competitive community background and their active in their own communities. Same thing with id… But I can say I will never buy a game that is published by them and isn’t developed by either SD or id. I will however wait to buy any games they publish to avoid the technical bugs that seem to plague their releases.

For example I probably wouldn’t have brought Brink yet, had I been remotely interested in the Fallout series and suffered the bad launches.

Yes, NOT TRUE
