DLC Releases this week (Update: not true)

(shadyadi) #1

Rock,Paper,Shotgun

So I had a read on RPS this morning and they say that the DLC is out this week, didn’t realize it was so soon, this is good news. Looking forward to the bayonets, even if I have to sacrifice my precious underslung.

this week?! that was quick, hell yeah!

Almost all issues still persist, at least the DLC will not bring anymore players in/back for sure.

(tokamak) #4

Agreed. You can impress a girl with new shoes but if your house is a mess then you still better not invite her at your place.

#5

Sod you whiners! More shiny new stuff! woot!

The game plays fine, it is not perfect, but neither was Quake Wars on release and I totaled hundreds of hours on that in the end!!!

And Tokamak, this is adding two new rooms to your house with nice new furniture and some new mod cons without cleaning the rest of the house (though improvements may be included in the DLC or just prior to), that is a more accurate analogy!

(shadyadi) #6

Surely just only take her to those rooms? There’s a shiny new sofa in one of them, leather too for easy cleaning.

(tokamak) #7

Quake Wars was near perfect on the release. Absolutely nothing stopping anyone from enjoying the game, just a bit of polish.

You’re still going to have to guide your date through the house and there aren’t many girls who are into blindfolds on the first time.

Yeah they shouldn’t release content they have finished and wait for the rest of the team to complete their bits and release it all in one go next month instead…

I seriously doubt that the DLC has had much of an impact on resolving the launch issues in terms of allocated resources.

(shadyadi) #9

Your still assuming the fictitious girl in question has a hangup about that sort of thing, what if her yard is a mess too?

The power of beta I guess… as I remember Quake Wars had some sort of a mp demo which definitely could’ve helped them.

I’m still confused, they will release DLC but content might not be available on Steam (UK) so is there going to be another way to get it?

(PsYcHo) #12

Whaaaat? This week? AWESOME!

(.Chris.) #13

Have you been getting patches from Steam?

(shadyadi) #14

I’m guessing if you already have the game it will just be a steam update…
Although it would be nice for an SD dude to clarify this.

I hope so.
In some other topic someone said patch is one thing and DLC is another thats why I’m not sure.

Doubt and woe, sheesh, I play games to lighten up! Quake Wars had black texture corruption and that was for several patches, lots of server crashes, hitching and lag. It is the nature of the beast, publishers want to release the game part baked, get revenue to implement the rest of the baking. :-/

It is proving to hurt the reputation and actually cost them more, let us hope they learn this is not the way to earn our respect and money!

Tokamak, you distract them with your parkouring over laundry and your snazzy home cinema lighting hiding the dirt. (ironically I spent all last night cleaning my house, garden and scrubbing my Weber in preparation for my mates coming for a BBQ on Friday after work! And the GF getting back from Cyprus on Sunday!!( dont think she would be impressed by this weeks pile of 8 empty 2L diet coke bottles and 4 bags of peanut M&M’s from my Brink marathons and DOW 2 Last Stand Marathons!)) (SD take note!)

(tokamak) #17

I know you’re being sarcastic but that’s exactly what I’d like to see. Clean up the mess then show off new stuff.

(.Chris.) #18

I’m preferring the small and frequent approach rather than the large and sparse approach they had with updates in ET:QW. I suspect there will be some small fixes to coincide with the DLC.

(tokamak) #19

I’m calling for an adjusted approach. New content has no haste while small fixes and game balances do. These need to be implemented at much shorter intervals. The value of the new content is dependant on the state of the game. Especially new people that the inevitable peak in attention will create need to be drawn to a more polished game than it is now.
