The only hype I have for this dlc, it’s because it’s free, so I will check the new stuff and then delete this game from my hard drive.
Sorry guys

Don’t be sorry
Just make sure it goes to a good home

nice job sin
I don’t know if a DLC of this size can efficiently “revive” the game’s fan-base, but that doesn’t change the fact die-hard fans of the game like myself and my many 360 friends that play Brink fairly often are pretty darn stoked about the new content.
After reading these forums for a month or more now, I can say I’m just glad we are getting it free in the end with how the general community treats SD. A majority of the posters on here seem to take any chance they can at verbally ****ting on the game, requesting they fix x, y, and z, demanding for them to add a, b, and c to the game, and then they complain when they are legitimately working on getting a DLC out to us for free just because, “It wasn’t released in June like they said it would be!”.
I mean come on, it’s 2 weeks, if you can’t wait that long without getting super antsy you are probably a teenager anyways, and you should go back to games more suited for your age group like Call of Duty, Battlefield, and Halo (despite the M ratings, these games seem to be full of stoners, college bros, and children). Real Brink players that play the game for the teamwork aspect don’t want to deal with high-pitched kids screaming into their mics that can’t listen during matches anyways.
I think there’ll be a peak in players the week the DLC is released, but at this point, it probably won’t even peak high enough to get back on the 360 top 20. Not sure about the PS3 and the PC couuminty has been heralding the game’s release since May 20th or so. On the 360, though, the peak will be followed by a trough, and that’ll be that.
I traded in one of my copies (I bought one for me and one for my son) two weeks ago and only got $16.50 for it from Gamestop. I’d like to trade my other one in to maximize my trade-in return, but I’m holding onto it in case the DLC has achievements, since I want the game to be “complete” before I sell it. I really don’t see the DLC convincing me to pick up the game again and stay with it, especially since my friends have all moved on.
After reading numerous threads about the DLC saving the game and such; I’ve come here to ask one question…
Do you really believe 2 maps and some clothes will save this game from extinction? :stroggbanana:
No DLC will not “save” it. Thats the thing though, if everyone will stop having these crazy expectations then maybe they’ll enjoy the free DLC and simply play the game. If Brink dies then it dies. Does it really matter?
I’m starting to think the game “dying” would be a(very great) help. I think with this, SD would be pressured in making a new (and hopefully, better)game(be it Brink 2, new W:ET, or ET:QW).
Don’t really see the logic here:
SD spends years creating Brink - a game that to some, was hyped to be as miraculous as the second the coming of Christ, but apparently was so lackluster and disappointing, that you’d think it was caught sleeping with the Mothers of the people that complain about it and afterwards, pissed in their Corn Flakes. Not only is this game deemed as broken and the community as dead, SD and Bethesda are also tagged as swindlers, liars, cutthroats, con men, bums, gypsies and everything in between, simply because some people weren’t happy with the final product.
After all the snide comments, bashing, trolling, ridicule and petty teenager drama that occurs everyday online concerning this game, what makes you think that the “death” of Brink would result in SD being pressured to make another game? Seems more likely that after this so called “fiasco,” people would like to see them dragged through the streets by their testicles and hanged or doing anything else besides designing games.
Basically whoever is not a fanboy right now (even if you like the game) will most likely bash SD because the dlc didn’t give them that much. But it’s to be expected. They said June. It’s already a week into July. Unless this dlc contains 60$ worth of content they will hate it.
But the sad thing is, most of the things they talked about were already made (bayonet, shield).

It’s 2 months. Not 2 weeks.

the game bombed, hard.
Why SD would continue to support a game that failed to attract even the smallest of communities based on it’s main feature: online.
I don’t know about SD, but if I’m running a buissness with dozens or hundreds of people, I’d better start thinking about making a game that won’t fail community & saleswise.
I think a week after the DLC the game will drop sharply, compared to population today. Some people will go back to check out the DLC, then most people will realize it’s too little, too late. That Brink has bigger problems than too little content.
June / Early July / November 2012 …
No news, and Early july is already finish !
I think when the DLC just arrives there will be thousands off ppl playing Brink every day for years to come
well that maybe shows im not that good at predicting the future.
but neither are you guys, why keep bashing this theme?, it will be there soon enough.
if you cant wait, well then your obviously just here to have the joy of playing it for 5 minutes then return here an bash it again.
give them time to fix the patches before they release the DLC, thats what any guy with any common sense would do.
fix the game, and use the DLC to get ppl back to game, and the fixes will be whats keeping them there, not 2 new maps or some small customisations
I think it has little to do with the DLC being “too little, too late.” I bet if SD released a patch that addressed every single issue people are complaining about and even added things, like dedicated servers and a lobby system for console, there would still be a large group of players who wouldn’t return.

You do alot of finger pointing and talking about maturity, if you could stop dragging that kind of **** out your comments would be alot more interesting. Not that they aren’t already but im just saying all that other whining just bogs you down man.
(Im being a critic not an asshole HORSE.)
For me the hype is over for this DLC I just want the tweaks and hopefully a few more players online cause I still love this game. Maps hopefully will come later when there are less bugs to fix, lobby… **** it, new weapons aren’t needed, new skins and paints and such would be cool, abilities ( I believe the level cap raises and filling in the empty squares is already planned) may happen. I just would like to play more of this game is all. Fix the glitches and flesh it out with more and more maps and ill be perfectly happy.
The games failure, to me, was due more to the poor state of the game at release then anything. I think if the game had not been so broken and had a little more content, we would not be having conversations about the game being dead. I dont think its due to crazy expectations.

Who’s whining? Not me. I’m simply using the context and mood of many of the negative posts I see people make about the game and mixing it with deliberate sarcasm to get a point across, of how over the top they are being. What do I have to whine about?
Sorry whiner may have been a bit of a misnomer for you, i’m just saying it’s a waste of your time. With all the young kids who can now say whatever they please and E bullies and junk there’s no point except your point which I enjoy. Just without all the elder-like wish wash. : )
