If you’re an engineer and go somewhere to put a dinamite and find there a satchel, what can you do? (40 seconds to lose game)
Disable satchel
find the covert who planted and kill him
defuse it
ignore it and plant anyways…
If the covert who planted it is arround 1 would work, otherwise 3 would be safe…
I think that defusing satchs doesn’t take that long…
but for speed you could throw the dyno, back off and switch to plyers and made the cover will be jumpy and blow it as you throw the dyno (a little luck and you live)…
then with dyno out (unarmed) plyers in hand check the clock if 40 sec you could alternate arming dyno and satch (or do stach and then dyno)…
You can easily kill the covert since he’ll probably have the detonator out which gives off that annoying and easy to locate buzz. If he doesn’t, either he’s waiting for you to get near before he pulls the detonator out or is busy off doing something else. Either way, the moment you hear the buzz get away from the satchel. You can usually get outside the kill radius before they have time to detonate.
Satchels take as long as mines to defuse, which is too long to do while the covert is looking at the satchel. Sometimes you can run towards it then quickly turn away, and the covert will blow the satchel thinking he’s predicted your movement.

I think that while an engineer is defusing a satchel that the satchel should be unable to be detonated by the covert ops. That way is would actually be worthwhile to disarm a satchel charge, yet still very risky. And the cov ops could just run from his hiding spot and shoot the engineer.
Basically, I think right now disarming satchel’s is useless and this could make it a viable option.
i defused one once, the spy chuked one thru the hole at the back door on battery, i was an axis neer, i crawled up to it avoiding his line of sight difused it and jumped up and he tried to blow it.
how loud is the radio detonator? I usually pay close attention to sounds in ET, and I know I’ve heard my own when I’m a covert ops, but I’ve never heard anyone else’s. How close do you have to be to a covert ops with a radio detonator to hear it?
Its pretty loud. While stealing the tug from the ammo depot on railgun I could hear a covert with his detonator out who was on top of the E fortification.

Couldn’t find in manual. hmm
What happens to the covert ops that holds the satchel? Do they get stuck with a detonator and can’t use satchel for rest of round?
