Dirty Bomb - PREMIUM

(CadGamings) #1

A couple days ago I made a video (https://goo.gl/XfntW1) talking about Premium.
This is basicly a way how people can spend money on Dirty Bomb, thus supporting the game/devs without buying case, boosters or mercs. I think a lot of people can agree that case atm are overpriced an very unrewarding, even disheartening.

I’m sure this idea has at the very least been talked about. (or maybe it already has been dismissed)

My idea was basicly to have a way where you can purchase for a monthly fee of around $15, a DB Premium Subscribtion. This would include one case per day with only iron and higher. A poor mans Expert Case if you will. And permanently 50% extra credits, that would stake with events, ranked and Credit Boosters. (not making booster useless)

A day later Cliff made a follow up video (https://goo.gl/fVyRrc) going a little further and actually giving 3 (actually 4) different price stages, each with their own perks.

Cliff’s ideas:
Bronze Tier:

  • 25% Extra Credits & XP
  • 15.000 In-Game Credits (once a month)
    For $6.99 a month

Silver Tier:

  • 50% Extra Credits & XP
  • 30.000 In-Game Credits (once a month)
  • A Elite Case A & B Bundle (once a month)
    For $12.99 a month

Gold Tier:

  • 50% Extra Credits & XP
  • 50.000 In-Game Credits (once a month)
  • A Arsenal Crate (every day)
    For $18.99 a month

Elite Operative Tier: i

  • 100% Extra Credits & XP
  • 50.000 In-Game Credits (once a month)
  • A Arsenal Crate (every day)
  • Elite Operative Exclusive Cosmetics
    For $34.99 a month

Universal Rewards: (for all Tiers)
- Client Sided Game Lobbys (custom servers?!)

  • Toggle-able Contributor Badge
  • The option to change your clantag color[
  • 10% Discount on all Trade-Ups % Trade-Ins/i]

I really love the idea of having multiple stages, so people can decide how much they want to spend. It should be noted that the more month you buy, the more ‘‘extra’’ stuff you’d get. For instance if you were to buy 12 months, you’d get 2 extra months. The extra XP I’m not 100% sure about, because we have players that have spend hondruds of hours into the game and really like their level because it shows how ‘‘skilled’’ & how much time you’ve put in to the game. But it would be nice because of leveling up faster and thus receiving even more Arsenal Crates :hushed:

Cliff also talked about special promotions/coupon for Premium players. Like discounts for Case Bundles, mercs, Boosters, ect.

Now in my video I held a poll, asking people IF and IF so, how much money would they be willing to spend on Dirty Bomb each month. I think the results are very interesting to say the least:

You can see that 75% is willing to spend money on a monthly base, granted this is only a poll with 64 votes, so it might not be 100% reliable. But I still think that is a really big deal! And something that shouldn’t be ignored by Splash Damage.
We’re aware that SB maybe doesn’t make these types of decisions, but Nexon.

Also a lot of people want to spend money on the game and support it, but feel like it’s currently not rewarding/sattisfing to buy cases and/or boosters:

Of course all of the prices and the actual stuff you’d get is totally speculation. Feel free to give your suggestions and constructive criticism.

Haters gonna hate, I know that a lot of F2P-players are like ‘‘allergic’’ to pay for games…I think that these ideas are totally not P2W.

@RazielWarmonic I hope that we’ll see something very similar to this in the future. I think you would be surprised how many people are really devoted to Dirty Bomb and want to support the game.

Post this on the reddit. The devs actually look at the reddit. I rarely see devs here.

(Amerika) #3

Raziel passes things on to the devs from here and so does Shoe. Some devs post on Reddit though because it’s Reddit. They also post on the Warchest forums.

I have no idea how Reddit works…

The day they implement this is the day me and probably like 50%, if not more, of the players leave. This is a stupid idea, in a MMO I get it, but this is a shooter. Monthly fee on a shooter? Nah, sorry man. This is the kind of business strategy I will never ever get behind, especially not on an online shooter.

(Chris Mullins) #6

We definitely do wander through these parts on a regular basis  It’s an interesting idea. Am curious to see what people think about it. We don’t have any plans for something like this.

(TheStrangerous) #7

If paywalls happen, then goodbye DB.

(pumpkinmeerkat) #8

Something like this shouldn’t boost XP IMO but credits and cases would be great!

(Jostabeere) #9

Yeah, no. Monthly payment for Credits and more RNG from cases? I rather buy Credit boosters and Elite cases then lol.

I would like to empathize that this is an ADDITIONAL way of supporting the development. Neither Cad nor I are suggesting to put Dirty Bomb behind a paywall. This essentially be thing for “people with too much money that buy stuff in a free2play game” alright? I’m seeing too many comments with people dismissing this without giving it a thought.

Communication as to what this is would be important if it was to ever be implemented. Players dismissing it as “pay2win” are usually the same kind calling Elite Cases pay2win, which we all know is very inaccurate.

The core principle behind my video was giving players a way to spend money on something KNOWING they will get benefit off of it, as something like a randomnized case drop can leave you very disappointed, sometimes even frustrated to ever sink money into it again.
The benefit is limited to convienence and cosmetics or quality of life improvements. None of that stuff helps you in the actual game and nothing splits the community as premium members (or development supporters) don’t get access to anything gameplay related that nobody else has.

Bottom line is just that we LOVE the game and want to support the development. But in the same time, when we spend money on something, we don’t want to feel like we wasted it because RNGesus slapped us in the face. Please do not dismiss this only because you wouldn’t want to buy it. After all, the people buying stuff in a F2P game are those who allow YOU to play it for free.

Everything is Fine except the XP boosting … it’s nearly like Farming xD spending money to get XP’s is a silly thing !!

I’d rather just pay for an upfront fee of say $40-$60 and then that includes the entire game with all the mercs, skins, etc. Its so much more straight forward than having to spend hundreds or even thousands of dollars on cosmetics that are not really worth it. (I don’t buy cases or anything like that, to be clear) The value that I have in Dirty Bomb is the game itself, not the microtransactions that are tacked on. I would much rather buy the game, traditional style (like an overwatch kinda model) and just have everything included, maybe with a small progression system that allows you to gradually unlock skins and also some customization so that I can make the character that I am playing my own and not just some generic preset load-out. To be clear, this one off pay model of the game would not replace the F2P model that they already have, it would just create a way for people who want to make that investment into the game and leave the RNG of the current system behind. Perhaps there could still be some things that are not included such as trinkets to be the sort of menial micro-transaction to keep people supporting the game. I guess the up-front model is way better than players who never spend a single cent on the game though, so take it how you will.

Anyways, mini-rant over, this is just my opinion. Point is I don’t spend money in game now because it holds no value for me. The game itself is whats valuable. Also, I certainly do not need a monthly subscription in my life as the Dirty Bomb team is not big enough to deliver content on a regular basis that actually holds value (maps, gamemodes, mercs). They have done a great job with what is in the game so far but by no means are they do they have the resources to produce that kind of content. Unfortunate, but its the truth. It makes me kinda sad cause DB is such a great game with even more potential.

edit: maybe there could also be a subscription model for people who want to do that and it would have certain benefits of its own, so in total there would be three models: F2P, subscription, and up-front payment. That’s the dream I guess.

edit No.2: I also realize that they could never do my model of the game because of all the money that people have spent on the game so far. It would be completely unfair. Unless of course they made all of the current skins exclusives to the RNG system or the open-beta and then started afresh with my model of payment and a whole bunch of different skins.

This is all just “EXTRA”. you don’t have to pay for the game we have right now at all, this would just add the option to support the devs in a more rewarding way… Please read the pull post and make sure you understand it before you start voicing opinions about something.

(blufflord) #14

if they just separated skins from guns, sold the better skins for actual money, sold really good looking, bigger trinkets for actual money, make the chances for the cases slightly better and decrease the price slightly (i cant speak for everyone but then i would certainly buy more cases) = overall more money earned. easy peasy squeeze the lemon.

(TheStrangerous) #15

Please, you can add all “hats” you want, just don’t lock thing behind paywalls.
This is why I don’t play AAA online shooters these days, so many paywalls here and there. Middle budget games forever!

(Occult) #16

any game that requires a monthly fee is a no go for me, id rather spend 60$ flat out for a game then have to pay monthly to keep it.

(TheStrangerous) #17

You could do TF2’s premium, which is pay once and you’re good to go.

(MarsRover) #18

The effective discount on cases would have to be around 90% for me to even consider a small, under 10$ sub.

I read it, I understood it, I disagree with it.

Maybe you should take your own advice and understand the post you reply to before replying.

It wouldn’t be REQUIRED to buy this, just EXTRA…
