Dirty Bomb player numbers dropping rapidly, what's the reason? Does the game have a future?

This game / If they dont immediately fix the horrible matchmaking pairing/hacking - this Dud of a bomb will just fade in the wind - especially when there will be BETTER games of this genre coming out Q4 this year.

Also don’t FORGET, this is…Nexon…THIS IS Nexon.

Because if you could just leave without punishment the system would be completely broken?
Yeah 100%. I have seen far more competive games, getting lost because one side has someone leave the match, than loosing because of hackers. infact I think for me personal it is somewhere around 15/1 so far. Hey guys ranked has two rounds and you can make a comback on the second, don’t leave in the break/ the second it gets hard (hey thats what he said).

Punishment isn’t severe enough if you ask me.

(GregHouseMD) #63

I have a bit of experience with dead games. Wildstar, I’ve been informed, is dead. Which is funny, because I raid every week, and public events get so many players they had to instance the areas to avoid peoples’ PCs melting. DB is likewise far from dead.

Which is not to say people shouldn’t point out problems where they see them. It does mean that nothing productive comes of running into the streets like a raving lunatic proclaiming the death of the game.

(VincentRJaeger) #64

I may be a bit naive, but I do believe SD will be able to fix the issue. My only worry though isn’t how it’s going to be made, it’s when it’s going to happen.

I’m sure SD wants to fix this but I believe there is an uncertainty on where they want the game to go; and given how it’s looking right now… atleast I know I don’t want to be in their position right now.

6000 players total are playing. Including hackers. How many legit players are actually playing this game? I’ve played today and I’ve seen 3 different hackers in 1 public game/server. I played for about 2 hours.

I mean y’know…

man, you dont even know what you are talking about. that is 6k players AT ANY GIVEN TIME. not 6k total players. it means 6k are playing RIGHT NOW. 6 hours from now, it very well might be a completely different set of 6k. the misinformation in these threads is stupider than the threads themselves

(asparagusMist) #67

reason comp scene is dead is the hacking ! last 5 games i played all had aimbots in and multihacks.not even hiding it just blatant snap to headshots all had vac bans.

why would you spend so much money on making a game only to have it killed off buy cheats ?

the games great fun stop the hacking.dont even let vac ban players play lol.

(quickMicrowave) #68

Well, match making != competitive scene for the competitive players really.

But, the cheating could definitely be related to why DirtyCups is going down in flames.

(Resine) #69

Let me think, there is a lot of mercs, but as far as i have been playing competitive i see 2-3 fraggers in every team depending if the engineer is needed.
I am really sick of games with high variety of classes where only 2-3 are used in the competitive stage. Lower his HP to 120 as other heavily classes except Rhino, and do something about the range of that nade so maybe people will consider using something else.
And… the aimpunch annoys me too much.
On top of the matchmaking that crashes 5 of 7 times, i took a break to wait and see how things will develop.

It is broken to begin with, given the hacking problems. Hackers are attracted to it because players wont leave because they don’t want to be penalised.

I suspect the reason we now have a mission is because more and more players are avoiding competitive due to the hacking problem, and more players are needed to shore the numbers up.

But on the downside, it is exposing more and more players to hackers, which is bad for the games image (and can prevent player growth as much as pay2win accusations do) and some of them might even decide to buy their own hacks given that SD seem to be doing little to combat the problem.

I can understand them needing time to find a better anti-cheat system (if they even are, call me cynical but I tend to be wary of devs making promises when they are having problems) but why are they not banning the ones that are being reported?

In any case, saying the game is dead is premature, but the population does seem to be on the decline, and that will continue as long as these problems remain.

(Ghosthree3) #71

It would honestly be better to completely turn off the rank leagues than to drop the penalty to band-aid hackers.

(Rubenoo123) #72

DB is dying. im quitting game cuz of all the hackers

(ThomaZe) #73

The game is unplayable, to many cheaters now, i hade 4 on the same server.

Couldn’t say, I wont touch it, I just cancel the missions if I get one. Not worth the aggravation.

(ttownjoe) #75
There’s rampant cheating now even in public servers.

XIGN is failing their purpose.
The fact is XIGN is not too blame for the cheaters, splash damage did minimal work to prevent it. The servers accepts all sorts of commands it should not, the develepers left in the entire cheater class() in the unreal engine!, and they choose to make all sorts of things like hit detection client based instead of server based. Which is just a stupid thing to do in a competitive FPS.

([eXo]Deeds) #76

Nope…
No communication…
No news…
No anti cheat…

I like the game but im pissed.

Actually, in this Situation… Wait for overwatch or battleborn.

The #1 reason Dirty Bomb player base is dropping is that Nexon is too slow in releasing new Mercs.
People get bored of playing with the same guys.
Release more mercs and more ppl will return!

Tf2 has less classes and yet is far more popular. Other games and especially fps’s rarely have 10+ different characters to play as. Except Mobas.

Right now judging from the forum and steam, the main reason why the playerbase is declining are cheaters.

i dont really agree with the lack of mercs, its the lack of interesting maps. when you play the same 5(?) maps for the last few years it gets pretty dull.

people will make maps for SD, i remade supply depot for db and someone else is working on tc_base but they wont even look at them till next year

This is so ridicilous. I want freaking more maps!
