Dirty Bomb player base is decreasing rapidly

If you go ahead and check the statistics of the state of this game
http://steamcharts.com/app/333930

You can see this game is dying, and its not looking good
The points I’m stating below are purely my opinion.

I think one of the reason for this cause it’s because of the shitty team balance of the game, many friends of mine who just started the game chose to not pouring more hours into the game, because the match are always one-sided.
e.g. If there are two level 100++ veterans in this Objective lobby, they will always be teamed up together more than separated to two different teams, even if they are separated, they WILL always change their teams to make the game one-sided and unplayable.

Before accusing me as a newbie who just rants and telling me to “Git Gud”,I’m not, considering myself who poured 400++ hours into the game

Great job veterans, keep making the matches one-sided, bully the rookies who got into this game recently, scare them away, the result? Peak players : 3176 Only << This is really bad for a game to have such low player base

Another reason might be the slow content output of the game, it’s been a year and what we have for this game :
5 objective/ stopwatch maps
3 execution maps
11 mercs
That’s it?

The loadout cards are terribly done, they have different colors and thats it? What’s the point of having rare cards to make you just blue?
Seriously, take a lesson from other games and observe how cosmetics are really done, and felt it’s worth to grind for rare items
e.g. for gold loadout cards onwards, make the mercs have changes in appearance ( hairstyle, weapon attachments, special quickchat, ambiance effect) , its very lazy to just change colors and leave it there.

The level-up rewards is so horrible, we shouldn’t get only one item via rng, the dev should have set a stable rewarding system, so the players would actually feel its worth it to get a higher level, imagine spending a whole month leveling up and all you got is one Credit booster, that’s it.

http://forums.dirtybomb.nexon.net/discussion/32696/not-a-rant-a-reminder/p1 the amount of posts about the player base is ridiculous. balance will be sorted by casual matchmaking hopefully, new content is being worked on and if you dont like the higher grade cards thats fine just dont buy them. weapon attachments tend to upset balance in the game and you can just use a mumble crosshair.

The balance is an issue people including myself addressed for a long time. Nothing really changed and the only thing we got was: “public matchmaking will come soon”. Sadly this info was months ago and it seems months will pass until it gets implemented. Summer Squash was an “insane success” and did not create any bugs at all. No, Stoker isn’t broken guys. The next update will be centered around optimization. We have to wait for it and hope it won’t break more things SD has to change afterwards
Imo something has to change in the near future.

The amount of content is a topic that comes up frequently aswell. I think aswell that the game needs more maps, modes, maybe mercs.
I’m pretty sure someone will respond with: “They work on a new map that will come soon” Well, we wait for the map for months now. And it seems we have to wait for months till it finally gets released.

The loadout system was discussed to death in the past. SD knows people want different things like skins separated from loadouts, but no info if they work on it or not. Which means it can take months or years till it gets implemented. Or maybe it won’t, noone knows.

And people complained about level rewards aswell. Here again, we don’t know when or if something gonna change. Can take months aswell.

it isnt you with 400+ hours that needs to git gud. its your friends who just started the game that need to git gud.

(SiegeFace) #6

They should totally raise max level 6 to max level 15 or something. And give us some min level 50 5v5 goodness ; )

Matchmaking is highly inconsistent in spliting up the experienced players into separate teams.

It is crap when the teams are stacked. I always press tab at the start of a match, to get a frame for how the match is likely to play out.

Sometimes its hilariously skewed, with level 100 players and level 20+ players populating one side - and the other side has all single digit level players.

Maybe the underdog team has one token double digit player, but the game is not going to be carried by that unlucky person. Best bet is go medic and rez all the bodies soon to be littering the floor.

Often if you glance the team composition at start and vote for team shuffle, shamefully only 2 or 3 votes show , indicating the high level players can be real pricks with no care toward new player perception of the game.

I’m lvl 120+ and its not my *** fault when both of the teams have special kind of bots… If u cant play you should NOT play fps games.

Next time, please use better source for graphs

bit of aggressive way of putting it but I agree , I don’t want to play with less experienced players but theres not a consistent amount of decent play on the game :frowning:

If it isn’t clear now guys; SD is trying to clean up the core game is much as possible before it goes ahead with new content. Which means wrangling with Unreal 3 and Direct X9, which is never easy.

(Dagasawr) #12

indeed especially since its a heavily modified version of UT3

I am sure the employees of Splash Damage and Nexon appreciate every one feedback whether negative or positive. I imagine this project is of great importance to a lot of people.

@Jostabeere Lots of people complain about balance, but imo most of them don’t understand what balance really is. You know what is the true reason behind so many unbalanced games? PLAYERS.
Ok, I’m not a nerd, I didn’t play tons of games, but I played enough FPS to say this: I don’t remember any game with so many leavers. First, people play with 3 proxies and 3 snipers in their team and then they are suprised the team isn’t doing any good. Wow, I wonder why. And finally, they leave. Or they just leave, without any serious reason. It’s like playerbase in this game doesn’t like to put any effort into winning a match.
But, ok, I know that we also have other, game-related issues.
But still, imo players are ruining this game to other players.

What are you even talking about? The 7 day chart shows literally no drastic decrease and the 1 year chart shows a gradual decrease from 6,000 to 3,000 players, which makes sense as the game hasn’t received any major media coverage in the form of advertisement since 2015. Nothing in that chart you linked even remotely indicates that the game is “dying”.

This kind of FUD is ridiculous because it’s based on literally no statistics or information at all, claiming it’s based on a chart that doesn’t even align with anything that you said whatsoever.

I can get legitimate complaints about the game not running properly, bugs and connectivity issues and whatnot, but complaining about something that isn’t even a problem? Really? You’re also complaining that the devs aren’t pumping out content 24/7 and are focusing on making the core game less buggy so that they can add more content in the future without making it unplayable, as if that argument makes any sense.

The argument about one-sided games is illegitimate because it makes no sense at all and is based on a confirmation bias which only makes it even less true, and the “level 100++” players are right; if your friends can’t handle attempting to get better in the face of adversity then they’re playing the wrong game. Nobody is going to hand the game to you because you’re new to the game, and it has a high skill cap. There are max level servers for a reason, though I agree there should be max level 15 servers instead of just max level 6, but by then you should have an intermediate grasp on the game mechanics and should already be learning the maps by then.

says the guy that trolls his team in ranked because he has a smurf in his team that can’t find games on his main.

What does not being able to find a game and making a smurf account so he can actually play a match have to do with sucking at FPS games?

Not that I care if he does it either way.

i dont see the context…

Well, yes. It’s the players and SDs fault. There must be a reason why players leave, or leaving is not punishing/non-rewarding/useless enough. And I know, I know, the "public matchmaking will be great and solve all problems coughof course it will do thatcough. Yet we wait for a whole lot of time for it, don’t you think?
And in my opinion, even if players leave, it’s the games duty to ensure that the rest of players still have a good game. On both sides. If it can’t manage that, because most players obviously don’t care, the game is doing a shit job at balancing.

@ivoryExperience how long have you been playing DB?
