I mean, unless they can keep up a stream of content, the peak will fall off again and it will go back to the 2,000avg
The casual scene anyways.
I’m not sure about how 2 Cobalts and three Rank 5 Silvers against 5 Gold 1/2s was fair. (Of which we still won anyways.)
Not to mention the 10 minute timers, of which 1/10 just give up, and AFK it out forcing even more waiting. An average of about 25 minutes a comp match. Almost 3x as long to get one.
Wasn’t arguing that there wasn’t a spike, but

It will fall off again.
We could think positive, but it’s better to think realistic.
That update took a LONG time to come out, not to mention the fact that there is little to no motive to keep playing.
its still beta. I dont think we need constant new content to have good games. Thats what this is about. Do we have the core mechanics needed to have good clutch games with skilled players? I think yes. The more people who find the game while looking for that will stay. This isnt bf4 or starwars battlefront.
This game is just lacking the hype cause its kinda specialized in the shooter-genre and has several unusual mechanics and feelings to it.
The fact that it was in Alpha/Beta for multiple years now doesnt really help that.
They are really going to need to build up some hype before the release.
5000 at peak according to steamcharts, but i think its mainly the higher levels never seen so many before.
The higher player count is just due to the recent update that has created both a media buzz as well as gotten visibility on Steam. Once people that joined get fed up of imbalanced games and the rampant bugs it’ll die down again. Also, many “regular players” who own all the mercs but play sporadically to reach 50k credits for the next merc joined and tried it out. Once the CW event is over and they have their credit stash for the next merc, they’ll stop playing as regularly, dropping the player average count again.
good maps will keep players for long time. good maps did it in quake, in ET, in etqw
Execution mode is out = assholes from cs:go come in… and I don’t recall anybody asking to invite them.
See all you have to do is make more content patches to keep players interested. 1 month is fine and in line with my experience in F2P games, but 2 months is too much.
They’ve been working on this patch for quite a bit longer than 2 months. I tested Dome and gave map feedback on it’s size back in April along with a few dozen other people. Apparently, they had to wait until now to release it and then say “people are saying it’s too big, possible changes to come”.
