Unfortunately @riptide is right. And considering the amount of bugs that get added with each update and the amount of time it takes to dish out these poor state updates (bug wise), it’s really not enough.
Dirty bomb has more players now
Well… That’s their answer for veteran’s request of having maps with multiple routes. I don’t really know if player’s standards lowered horribly in map design or if SD totally lost knowledge in this field. To me, it’s the best map currently available in DB, but I totally understand that people feel lost and overwhelmed by the size of it.
By the way, map design is to me cursed nowadays in the fps world. Since 2007, I have not seen any game providing depth in this topic. cs:go just use updated versions of very old maps so it does not count.
Dome is to me the only map available in DB providing proper depth. Multiple routes, strategy. In the meantime, it’s horribly unclear and messy for not accustomed players.
The biggest problem after the addition of Dome and Execution mode is to me bugs, shitty servers and a netcode that could be improved if right decisions are made on it. This is hard to realize, but I truly think that some players would give a second sight on dirty bomb if we had those three issues worked on as they should be.
People get lost because the obvious ways turn out to be dead ends. I’ve seen people run into the same paths I have and then stand around confused. Some arrows would be nice, like CS used to have them.
And for some reason, people are too lazy to learn the map. It’s astonishing really. I’ve seen the attackers run into the defenders chokes so hard, that the defenders pushed all the way to the spawn, yet the attackers ignore the other path completely. I could just walk up to behind the defenders with nobody even noticing me.
This game is just lacking the hype cause its kinda specialized in the shooter-genre and has several unusual mechanics and feelings to it.
The fact that it was in Alpha/Beta for multiple years now doesnt really help that.
They are really going to need to build up some hype before the release.
What release? lol. Like you said, its been in alpha and beta forever. I dont have much faith in seeing a full release within 18 months. And even 6 months from now, I may have moved on.
The game is good, but the lack of content in comparison to other shooters makes people leave. This game had little content for a long time, and that kind of word-of-mouth hurts game when people go to read reviews or ask for opinions on what new games to try.

Worse is that people who actually stuck to the game because of the little content now have turned it upside down and any content the devs add will be consumed at a faster rate than it is created. Long time players will get bored faster than content arrives, unfortunately…

I’ve played a bit over 2 months, and I still have a lot of things to experience.
The feeling of getting your first cobalt card, killing ragnak in a 1v1, getting that sexy godlike.
I won’t get tired in 4 more months.
But man killing ragnak in any way feels like an amazing accomplishment

I’m just lacking the cobalt, but what’s the point? So that I can get a loadout I don’t want and will never use? If I so desired I could enter the game right now and trade my way up for it. The rest of your list I’ve done. I don’t even count the godlike’s anymore and the doctor badges are not a rarity for me either…
I feel I for once have turned the content inside out and there is nothing left. Once the first experience feeling is gone there is nothing left except for bugs and imbalanced games with a community made up of 75% of incompetent players who don’t even bother doing the tutorial.
For the last month I’ve had more fun and spent more time on the forums than the actual game, that’s how far it has come, but now not even the forums are entertaining. I’m afraid I’ll be soon moving on to other pastures. Maybe I’ll poke back for a quick look for the next merc release but after a dozen games with that merc I’ll be out again.
Dome would be the best map in the game if we could play it 12 vs 12 or 16 vs 16. Is there any particular reason 16 player servers are the absolute max?
