Directx12 and Dirty bomb

(misspo) #1

Hi, what gonna happen with dirty bomb and directx12?
Is SD going to make compatible db with dx12? I know SD is working on optimization.

(srswizard) #2

No

(Ghosthree3) #3

Pretty sure the game runs on DX9.

(Radford_343) #4

Yup.

(Jostabeere) #5

Directxwhaaat?

(Kroad) #6

man they haven’t figured out dx10 yet, give them time

(Nail) #7

yes, lets make a free to play game require Win 10

(Mister__Wiggles) #8

I’m in the process of downloading win 10, I knew DB wouldn’t be optimised for it but I’m hoping at some point in the future it will be.

(Amerika) #9

Everyone I know who installed Win10 early and plays DB haven’t had any issues. However, it’s not officially supported by SD yet since the testing effort across a huge range of computer part combinations is pretty rough and you can never hope to hit even a good portion of them.

I’ll either be updating tonight if I’m bored or waiting for this weekend. The parts in my PC are pretty common so I am not too worried.

(Fleshpound) #10

Gigantic already done that. And i am not sure how many players will play it as Win 10 exclusive.

(XavienX) #11

First time I see you on forums and all you say is No.

(Ghosthree3) #12

I don’t see the problem, he answered your question. And what does it matter what post you see first, I’m sure some other random post he made was the best post ever and was the first one someone else saw.

(Harlot) #13

Why wouldn’t you? It’s a pretty big improvement over other versions, it’s free to upgrade to and DirectX12 is amazing.

(misspo) #14

@Harlot
Yep i find Nail response a bit stupid. I don’t see why a f2p made on unreal engine, would not have the possiblity to use a free and amazing DX12.
Every game developpers are going to step in, it’s just a question of time. If SD work on optimization, like they said, and implement DX12 at the same occasion, it would be stunning!

I just hope DX12 will not make dev laziest on opimization. DX12 is a bonus and not a “shortened path” to gain developement time.

First things first.
Pretty much every1 can run Dx9 games, but only few can say the same about Dx12. On the other hand new features, maps, antihacking, etc also affect every1.
So why spend resources on something that will only benefit few(that is not a problem to begin with), while you have plenty of issue as is to work on.

@Dirmagnos
Hi, i 100% agree with you. It is not some thing urgent to do. But if SD have people working only on optimizations lately, i think it’s a good thing that’s this same people continue it with DX12 support.

On the other hand, if SD doesn’t have enough devs to split up then just work on basics optimizations and W10 support/compatibility. And then when other things like Anti hack, demorecorder, private server, bug fix & co will be done/advanced, then they will have time and employee to work on less urgent matter like dx12.

And i think it’s time to forget DX9 and stop living in the past (i know valve game run on dx9 lol, may source 2 be with us).

Because some people don’t like forced updates (eg the latest nvidia drivers are not always the greatest ones).

(D'@athi) #18

Free to upgrade, ahh… Could you please explain this to all windows-users? And improvements, even if this game still is on the cpu-, instead of the gpu-side?

(Nail) #19

maybe the fact that UE3 only supports Directx 11 and they would have to convert the whole game to UE4 has something to do with it

You have 1 year to upgrade from Windows 7/8/8.1 to Windows 10 and have it be free. You can even reserve your upgrade now and hold off on actually upgrading, so it is still free. It’s aesthetically more pleasing than Windows 8.1 and many are seeing performance increases in games across the board. Also, DirectX12 will be a Windows 10 exclusive, and is showing incredible promise in boosting performance from your hardware.

My Windows 10 experience has been fantastic, so far.
