DSL is unavailable in my area. My choices are Comcast cable TV/Broadband or DirecTV. I I currently have a 56k modem that runs at a blistering 24bps typically (suuucccckkkss!) and DirecTV. The satellite loses signal frequently, drops channels inexplicably, etc. I’m fed up with it. Question: Is it true that DirecTV is fast on download, slow on upload? Is it possible to play ET via a satellite connection? I can’t stand it anymore. Any experience with gaming via Comcast broadband out there? Any compelling reason to go with all Digital Comcast vs. Analog?

cable all the way. I have comcast and it’s great… 3.2 Mbit down 240kb up. Never really tried satellite but i doubt it even comes close to the cable speed.

Satellite is BAD for gaming. Because of light time, your minimum possible ping is somewhere around 400. Cable is a far better choice for games.
