did etpro3 touch the sniper rifle???????????

(RAV3N) #1

hey hey

always been a big fan of the sniper rifle on ET (makes a change from the easy to use ones on games like cs etc.) but since i got etpro 3 on my comp and started using etpro3 servers (my clan server being one of them) i just cant seem to sniper i miss everything and its not like i am having a hard time aiming i just cant hit a single thing, i have made a demo of me using the sniper rifle on a still target and everytime i miss (i will put it up here if anybody cares about my prob and wants to actually take a look) but i mean did the makers of the new version of etpro do anything to the settings to the rifle which might conflict with something on my comp???

any help would be great but please no posts saying my aim sucks or im a noob cos i was perfectly fine before i got the newest version of etpro.

Firstly, I don’t know if this has been changed or not - but I know some people have complained the head hitbox is a bit to big for ages. ETPro 3 might have shrunk it.

Show us ya demo

only thing they did was make the garand play like the k43… the weapons are both the same

It’s probably not what’s causing your problem, but I have noticed that the sniper rifles don’t work properly when using pmove_fixed (I don’t think I’ve ever managed to hit anything while pmove_fixed was enabled.) I haven’t had a chance to debug this yet.

Nice of you to inform us as soon as you noticed it :bash:
I hope I didn’t put a damper on you…okay that’s a bad pun

pmove_fixed is broken in a number of ways…

RAV3N:
I doubt etpro has changed the sniper rifle, but the antilag fixes would affect where you have to aim to get hs. You can see here http://www.et-center.com/?page=articles&id=43 what the hitbox issue mentioned is.

hey for the guy who asked for the demo i will put it up as soon as i can get it hosted on my site so u can download it but the only thing it shows is me shooting my friend who is standing still and its not even like im shooting him in the head so it probably wont help much but still i will get it up asap.

oh also what is this pmove_fixed thing and can u disable it with sumthin like “/seta pmove_fixed 0” or am i just being stupid :stuck_out_tongue:

(Rain) #9

But I’ve fixed most of them!

Most of what’s left are actual framerate-dependent problems… The most obvious example being sensitivity on mounted MGs and the mortar (ridiculously low at high framerates, not so bad at lower framerates.) This happens because the angles are converted to shorts once every frame, and the loss of precision causes things to be rounded down often enough that no movement happens at all for several frames when the framerate is high enough (because you’re not moving quite fast enough.)

Well, pmove_fixed from etmain doesn’t work at all without bugfixes, so…
:bash:

hey my FPS never goes over 15 could that be the problem?
i mean the game runs smoothly and all but having an average FPS of 8 cant be good cant it?

(Lekdevil.NL) #11

If your FPS never goes above 15 then yes, you’ve got a problem and my sympathies as well…

In that case, I would suggest the panzerfaust as a better sniping weapon

Heh, the only time i use pmove_fixed 1 is in q3 for over bounce, or in et to jump higher.
Isn’t it just a cvar ID added to fix the player having different jump highets/stuff dependant on FPS?

(Rain) #17

More or less. pmove_fixed causes physics to be run at a fixed rate (every pmove_msec ms), so the default of pmove_msec 8 = 1000 / 8 = equivalent to 125fps, regardless of your framerate.
